Money would probably be our biggest issue in making this happen.

Coincidentally, Albert was selected 15th overall in the 2008 draft.

His rookie contract was 15.8 mil for 5 years.

He's coming off that so I'd imagine he wants BIG money, at least 5 mil per year I'd speculate.

Would endorse if the defense wasn't such an abortion...

They'd probably have to take on a contract or two in order for us to be able to afford him. Plus, I dont know if I'd want to trade our first round pick for a position that we've had a reputation of just plugging guys in and them doing well.

Maybe the Chiefs could throw in a late round pick or two with the deal.

We could throw in Jenkins with the deal or designate some June 1st cuts.

LT is LT and our QB is our team.

So despite recent success at the, "We'll just plug this guy in" strategy, I'm not comfortable with Charlie Brown or a 3rd round rookie LT protecting Drew's blind side.

For the record, I don't think this happens but it is a legitimate possibility.

No, explain?

This guy is a proven successful LT with good experience in the prime of his career and would fill a huge hole on the team's needs.

Anyone we draft at 15 would be much more of a risk IMO.

We can't afford him, plus he's not going to cost a first rounder. A mid 2nd would probably get it done, but we obviously don't have that.

Agreed.

They've reported they want more than a 2nd round pick but I agree, if we had a second round pick and the money this would be an attractive deal.

It frustrates me we can't afford a legit starting left fricking tackle.

I get that. But I dont think giving them our first round pick (especially when we dont even have a second rounder) is worth it. We could find other ways to get a serviceable LT without trading our first round pick.

We already have a limited amount of draft picks as it is to try and shore up the defense as much as we can. If that defense doesn't improve I don't care if you add the top 5 offensive lineman in the nfl and megatron to the offense we aren't going to win in the playoffs.

I was talking about the Chiefs throwing in some late round picks since we would be giving up our first.

You want to piss away yet ANOTHER first round pick? So two years in a row, in a league where winners are built in the draft, you want to not have a first OR second round pick in back to back drafts?

For a position that has been proven over 7 years with the current staff that we don't "need" a pro-bowler and a player who, while proven, has also been inconsistent. If he was so great everyone wouldn't have the Chiefs taking a LT first overall.

When we had the worst defense EVER.

I agree we need a LT, and I also agree that I'd like to see a better player there than we've had in the past. But absolutely, positively no possible way I'm trading our first rounder this year unless it's to move back and acqure more picks. We've handcuffed ourselves enough with drafts
