I have rewatched a lot of highlights from last year (come on football) and if you did the same you will notice a lot of big plays from Cooks throughout the year. Dude is good but a primadonna...such is life.
Then we get Ginn. I was happy but immediately understood he isn't a direct replacement for Cooks. What he is though is very familiar to this offense. Great speed, so so hands, veteran mindset with a penchant for long touchdowns. Remind you of anyone?

I think he will do the same thing for us and I like it.

With Cooks getting traded, I was certainly glad to have him and if anyone can get the 1st round talent out of Ginn, it's Brees. With that said, Ginn is still 31 or 32 and until now has basically been a burner, so reminds me of Devery Henderson more than anything and I would have really loved to add Maclin or Decker. I know Payton loves him some Brandon Coleman but I really wish we'd add another veteran WR.

This I don't understand. Coleman has had years to prove he's not a legit NFL WR.

Just what exactly are people really expecting from our 4th WR? Not a huge Coleman fan but does anyone really expect a drastic increase in production from guys that will get thrown to a couple of times a game?

Would not shock me at all if he had a 1000 yard season (although unlikely). I mean Brees can pretty much give anyone a 1000 yard season not named Brandon Coleman.

If willie Snead was our #1 target he'd have 1100 yards and 9 TDs. It's next man up with this gunslinger!

He will take the top off the defense without a doubt. He has so so hands but he only needs a couple long catches and that defense will spread thin. We will get good production out of him. We have alot of new faces on offense. What we really need is for Fleener to be 100% better than last year.
I think next year we draft a WR or TE to compliment M. Thomas and Snead.

I think the Cooks replacement is not Ginn but Kamara. They tried to get Cooks with a lot of bubble screens and short passing routes in open space. Cooks is basically a Ginn/Kamara in one but I think Kamara is better with the screens since he's a RB first with WR hands.

Cooks avoids contact more than Torry Holt. It was painful to watch him get on the ground or run out of bounds on those type plays, but not painful to him.

No way he is comparable to those two.

I look at him as a faster Meachem role wise. Meachem hands were iffy too.

We definitely downgraded, but I think we're looking to attack the peremiters and the intermediate more in order to sustain drives.

You think they are going to convert Kamara into a WR? Cooks played on the outside quite a bit to take the top of the DB's.

To Ginn

I think Ginn can put up Cooks type numbers. We will see if he can hold on to the ball. I don't think Ginn is any more a primadonna than Cooks was.

I think the Henderson comparison is pretty spot on. Who is faster?

Very positive move for this team, the team needed a player keep drives alive. I think they found him.

I agree it is a positive move but generally when I think of a player to keep drives alive I do not think of the WR that is used to stretch the field. I think of a 100% hands guy.

I think the speed between Ginn and Henderson is about a draw.
Here are Henderson's two best years as a Saint. I think this is an accurate high end of what you can expect from Ginn.
'09
51 receptions 804 yards 2 TDs
'06
32 receptions 745 yards 5 TDs

Let's hope for the higher TD number, but honestly other than Cooks, our TD's usually so to great Red Zone targets (think Graham, Colston, Watson, now Thomas).
800 yards and being a deep threat w/ a handful of TDs is what I believe to be his ceiling but this offense absolutely needs that speed to be respected for the middle to open up.

If the running game works out like we're all dreaming it will, he's going to have PLENTY of chances
