But not Sean Payton like some Rantards suggest.

1) McMahon /SPecial Teams: I know this is Payton's boy, but it is time for him to go. This team hasn't had a return game in years.

2) The Defensive Assistants: Vitt, Johnson, etc these guys have ALWAYS had subpar units, and just stick around. It is time to move on.

3) Offensive Line: Kromer leaves, this unit drops off a cliff. Time to get someone else.

4) Pete Carmichael: Yes, I know that Payton is the actual OC. But we need, someone in there that may challenge payton a bit, that he respects.

Its time for some new blood.

I'm hoping Chicago cleans house and we can get Kromer for OC

absolutely. He's done a fine job with the talent he has outside of the Atlanta game.

He can't catch the ball for Hawthorne

Losing him was HUGE.

Of course. His personnel took a huge hit this season. Look at his secondary.

Agree.
I think he may have a bunch of yes men who he feels too comfortable with.
CSP seems to have gotten into a comfort zone.
I miss the unpredictable coach.

We weren't going to fire Carmichael, but I was hoping he'd get hired for a HC position after 2012 so we could promote Kromer

Hard to disagree with any of that. I'd throw Vitt in there as well. While he's great for a sound bite, the only two LBs we've had worth a shite since '06 are Vilma (trade) and Lofton (FA).

Carmichael

Agreed. The guy has to be a huge pushover, with nothing to add. There's a reason other assistants/coordinators have gone on to bigger jobs, while the Coordinator of our most successful unit of this regime has gone no where.

Ive been saying this for a long time, especially wrt Bill Johnson. Unlike our db's, we have talent on our D line and they've consistently underachieved, last year and 09 (against a lot of bad QBs) being the exceptions.

I like Vitt, maybe let him take over special teams. We need a new O line coach too and let RR bring in some of his own assistants.

Yes, I would keep RR, but I would let him bring in his own assistants, and I would focus heavily on Defense in the offseason (Veterans in the Secondary, rookies at DL and LB)

If he doesn't get it done, then he's gone.

I agree with all of the above. I would like to add a new strength and conditioning staff to the mix. We are weak and consistently fade in the 2nd half of games.

Bill Johnson needs to go.

I want Dennis Allen back in some capacity.

Ryan is safe because of what he has to work with on the defensive side due to injury. The D was actually starting to play better as the season went on and then just got bit by the injury bug bad.

I would love to have Dennis Allen back. If they only way he would come back would be as DC, then yeah I would probably fire RR.

Then so be it. I think that hiring Allen as a DC would be a home run.

Denis Allen at DC is the only way I can see us firing Ryan.

I also like the idea of letting RR have say in who his assistants will be. If you want a successful DC, he needs people that have the same mindset as him.

I wonder if the thing with Ryan having to use Payton's assistant coaches instead of "bringing in his own people," has anything to do with what went down with the Bounty thing. It's possible. I could see Payton being a little bit of a control freak about the D staff after what happened to him with Gregg Williams.

Good thread. I agree with pretty much all of that. Would love Kromer back. Would also love having Dennis Allen back as a DB coach. I'll give Ryan 1 more year. Not completely his fault because of the injuries suffered on that side of the ball, but you have to question some of his coaching/play calling. Our defense is missing too many tackles compared to last season. That's on the coaching.

I kinda agree about Bill Johnson needing to go. Our DL does underachieve in big games. Always been a hot and cold unit.

But I think he does teach talent how to become good football players. Like we havent had many guys become busts under his watch, and weve scored on some UFA dline talent.

If youve gone to training camp or attended practice you should know what kinda coach Bill Johnson is. Hes very stern but fair. And he wants the best for his players which is important to me. Getting Ws is secondary. Love watching that man coach his players.
