"I'm disappointed for Rob that it didn't work out," Payton said on WWL-AM, according to The Times-Picayune. "He's a guy who's respected greatly, not only in the locker room, but by his peers and we just had to at some point look closely and begin to at least give this an option because the direction we were going wasn't good. We really struggled with substitutions, getting lined up and getting our guys the defensive call and being able to function."

I mean, WUT??????? You wait till now to fire a DC that has a defensive group that can't even relay plays and F'in line up????????????????

I thought Dennis Allen was making the calls as per Rappaport?

Sounds like the offense sometimes. I thought we were going to simplify shite on defense?

Yeah no shite. How many time outs and delay of games do we have per game because they can't get the call in on time?

Seriously Sean, look at yourself a little. Calling someone out for the same exact shite you do.

They can't tackle and are terrible in pursuit too.

if this was a mid level collegiate program we were talking about, okay... i could understand...

but these are paid PROFESSIONAL players that, at this point in their lives, have been doing the shite for at least 5 years or more that we are discussing.... and they can't even get lined up correctly?????????

yeah, um, that's.... well... i don't even... seriously??

I've been down on McMahon so long I've given up hope of any change there. Superior talent on special teams can maintain journeyman performances. Similar to the defense, I see way too many holes and space in the kick coverage and blocking schemes.

I do think Payton has the friendship blindness with him. He overcame that canning Gibbs but not McMahon.

There are times when I think that it goes way beyond just a friendship loyalty thing.

I wonder sometimes if Mcmahon, Johnson, and Vitt don't have blackmail material on CSP.
