The Spiller signing

I understand why Payton wanted him. Hybrid back in the mold of Sproles and Bush...a toy for his offense if you will. But damn, should have the front office spent that money on a pass rusher. Secondary will have to be elite this year bc this team has zero pass rush.

Yea you are right, not going to land a pass rusher with that contract. Just frustrated with the FO moves the last couple years. Last years draft, Byrd's and Spiller injuries have really put me in a negative way when thinking about this year. Hopefully the rookies get get us some pressure.

I understanding questioning the FO moves in years past but I think we have done really well this year. With the lone exception of Gallette's contract being redone, or was that last year? I'm prob wrong but I was thinking restructuring him and then cutting him may have caused more dead money, not sure. At the time the Spiller picked seemed great especially since it was before we drafted Marcus Murphy, that was probably only luxury FA pickup this year and he isn't THAT expensive. I feel we had an excellent draft, we won't know truly for a couple years. I liked getting Unger, and getting rid of some heavy cap burdens by offloading other players, will really help for 2016 season. I wish we had done in 2014 like we did this year. Go for long term instead of the big homeruns.

Don't sign Bryd have 12 mil to spend. Don't resign JR. have 12 mil to spend. Draft so an so. Pick up this FA and score. On and on with 20-20 hindsight.
Spiller has yet to play in week one. Why blame him for your perceived lack of a pass rush?

Damn dude. What pass rusher did you want so badly in the free agency? And don't claim we have "zero pass rush" when we haven't even seen a damn game yet (and don't be the guy to bitch about preseason pass rush.) For all we know we could return to being a top 5 defense again, or we could stink it up like last season. The Spiller signing was planned b/c of the Jimmy Graham play, plus Payton wanted to fill the void that Sproles left. I don't see the problem.

1. you need to look up the definition of "zero." even the worst pass rush teams still have more than "zero"
2. maybe you should wait until at least ONE game is played before you spout foolishness. At least then you will have some evidence to support your claims.

People keep saying this and they are right. However, they fail to realize that he can run between the tackles too. He's not a specialist back and he's getting paid more than any rb on the team. He's going to catch a lot of passes, but he will tote the rock much more than a guy like Sproles.
