if new york had a stadium in the city proper with a retractable cover and access by 3 or 4 subway lines, this could be an awesome superbowl...

met life stadium is in a field across the river in new jersey with crappy public transportation options, nyc gets hit with a blizzard, super bowl is screwed.....i hope it happens so komissar goodell goes down!!!!

What about the teams that have to play in a dome/warm weather for the sb that normally play in cold weather? People sound awful bitchy/entitled in this thread.

Some of you guys get it, some don't.
A blizzard at the wrong time could make the Jerry World faux pas or lights going out in the Super Dome a minor after thought. It could put the fans in harms way, strand thousands, and could ruin a great event, for what? $$$$$

Passing teams need not apply. Probably not worth it

What?

Patriots DESTROYED the Titans a couple of years ago in a near blizzard throwing the ball.

I don't get it, it's the first Super Bowl in a long time that cold conditions may become a factor. How can warm weather teams complain when around 2 to 3% of Super Bowls are played with potential of cold weather?

Are you implying that warm weather becomes an advantage for southern teams?

I don't see it that way.

Turn on the Detroit at Philly game right now and

look at the detroit-philly game that's on right now...

now, imagine this kind of snowfall happening for 18 hours BEFORE the superbowl....

at the end of the day, everything is about logistics...

if it snows bad enough that the trains stop, the jersey turnpike can probably be kept open with one lane each way, but moving around NYC except on underground trains of the subway, fugedda about it!!!!!....

You can't be serious? PERFECT conditions are favorable to only 1 team? You really think the Pats or Eagles play better in this shitball weather? Are you watching today's joke games? The Eagles and Pats have a combined 0 points.

Anyone who thinks it's a good idea to have the SB in an outdoor stadium in the winter is a moron. Sorry.

Yeah, I can't agree with that argument, Aug.

Everyone plays better in a controlled environment.
It takes away advantages; it doesn't give advantages.

Question for you tactical football experts:

What are the disadvantages of kicking extra points/field goals in these snowy/frozen games? These 2-point conversations are exciting.

Update: Apparently, Detroit now trying kick extra point, though timeout wasted to get snow cleared for place kicker. And it's blocked!

Yeah I'm kinda curious why they're not even trying it. Both teams missed at least one, both at 14 each

It's basically just college OT the whole game

Well the Eagles put up a bunch of points, but only 1 passing TD. We should be stoked since the running game is the Saints strong suit

Fact is....football is a multifaceted game with the coming together of many different disciplines. To play the game in such weather bastardizes the game as we know it. In the modern age of football....THERE IS NO REASON to have to play in such conditions. Because of this and so many other reasons .....THE END OF THE GODDEL ERA....cannot come soon enough!!
