Discipline and the guard play.

First of all. GB is a good team. Rodgers is great. They'll be there at the end. Losing this game was always within the realm of possibility.
The real issues are the guard play and discipline. The penalties are unacceptable, nothing more to say there. Secondly, GB had a significant competitive advantage using the hard count often and on late downs. They weren't necessarily looking for offsides (though we did give it to them), more just trying to slow down our D-line off the ball and get pre-snap intel. Any normal Sunday night, the dome would be rocking and they'd be in a silent count for 90% of the game.

Lastly, the guard play has been atrocious. Not really sure what's going on with the rookie, but Nick Easton is a liability. I know Peat isn't the most popular player around these parts, but he is our best guard, and losing him will hurt. We've all been watching Brees since '06. This is hands down the most uncomfortable he's been in the pocket since he's been a Saint. Pressure up the middle has always been Brees' weakness. He doesn't trust the interior line, and it's obvious.

He's a 41 year old man with 300 lb 20-something-year-olds bearing down on him... and people wonder why he hasn't been his usual 70+% accuracy passer. He's missed Mike too. Can't replace a guy like that.

TLDR; CSP and company have to get the penalties fixed.
Don't fall for the media's shite. Brees can throw the deep ball still, it just hasn't been there because of time or the coverage.
Mike coming back will provide a resurgence.
Losing Peat is a huge problem. The Rookie gotta step up.
Cut Nick Easton.

We'll be fine y'all.

Peat sucks. Got beat bad by Hurst on Brees’s one INT of the season. He’s always getting beat.

Protection was better with Easton and Ruiz in the game.

I like the idea of Hurst and Ruiz next week.

Peat can play guard and tackle. He's got continuity with the line and far more athletic than Easton. Let me know next time you see Easton slide out on a screen or even pull. Peat fits what we want to do on offense.

Easton literally was beat by the same guy on a similar rush half way through the 4th. We just happened to have a speed out to the opposite side of the field called, so Brees got rid of it before the hit. He was also beat by a similar rush in the GB game after he moved to LG. Again, the ball comes out fast though.

The rook needs to ball out this week.

Hard to believe he's making more than Peat this year. That will obviously change next year.

Still amazes me at how much money we wasted on re-signing Peat.

other than the Bucs game our defense hasn't been worth a frick.

The Raiders best receiving option was Waller and we couldn't stop him. They weren't doing anything fancy with him and we still couldn't stop him. Scary.

I think the run defense has been good but I don't know if it will be because teams know they can just throw it and have more success or not.

I think this Sunday @ Detroit isn't a gimmie either.

if we lose that game we are in big trouble.
