You are correct. It was not a "must win" game.

At least we know that the Offense is OK and the Defense needs to drastically improve.

Everyone is shitting on the defense but really there was 1 big play that comes to mind

bad PI call to end the game and obviously bad timeout management, but I still think the saints are a playoff team. Call me biased, idgaf

I was hoping for 10-6 but we needed this win. I think we go 7-9. Payton is becoming Jeff Fisher.

Also came damn close to winning on a 61 yard FG.

Looks like the kid can boot the ball. He will win us some games this year

I called 5-11 or 6-10 but seeing this performance we have a slight chance at 9-7.

Every game is important, but this game was very important for the Saints. After going winless in the preseason, they needed a confidence boost that comes from a victory. After the horrible starts to the season the last two years, it was crucial that the Saints start off on the right foot. Losing this game in the fashion they did was very disappointing. The season isn't over by any means, but the Saints need to get things going the next few weeks, get the ball rolling. Huge game next week against the Giants. We don't want to get into another shoot-out with the Giants like we did last year. The Saints were lucky to win that game, but as we saw vs. the Raiders today, shoot-outs can either bring you great joy or great disappointment, the latter being the case for us Saints fans. Defense needs to step up and play consistently. Offense looked great, just need more balance with the pass and rush. Once again, familiar issues for the Saints...

History says when the Saints don't start fast, they're an average/below-average team
