Yeah, I saw the article where they are considering shopping the rights to naming the stadium. Think they had a prototype temp banner that said "mercedes Benz Superdome" on the outside of the stadium today I think.

The video in that link has the banner you mentioned.

Has anyone seen a different banner with another "potential sponsor's" name? Until I see another banner, I'm not buying the story that the MB Superdome banner was just a sales pitch to MB. If that was truly the case, why not a quick photoshop job? It would probably be cheaper than producing multiple banners and then paying workers to go and unfurl them on the Dome for a photo-op.

Saw that pic this morning. Is there a pic of another banner with a different sponsor name as the Superdome brass are claiming is the case?

I haven't seen one. Though, reportedly that one was only out there for a very short time period, so basically you would have to not only be out there while they have it there, but it would also have to stop and take a photo of it.

I drive by the superdome every weekday, doubt I'll ever notice if they decide to put another one up.

It's hard to name a stadium that already has such an identifiable name..

I think a company with a new Orleans history like a Popeyes (I know they're not hqd here anymore but the ties are there) or a Shell oil or even a Carnival Cruiselines would make a lot of sense.

I remember reading something in the newspaper a while back (pre Katrina) about naming rights. It said that the arena and the dome are a package deal. I remember someone saying it would be like having The Budweiser Dome and the Bud Light Arena, or Taco Bell Dome and KFC Arena.

Why not Home Depot...since they're making a killing in this area with all this rebuilding and they did build a brand new store right outside of the Dome.
