Stupid Cap Question

Let's suppose we traded Galette for Willis. Does SanFran assume Galette's cap hit and NOLA assume Willis'?
IE: if we cut Galette, we save 10 mil with 3 mil in dead money. If we trade him, do we still get hit with the 3 mil?
I know those #s arent right, just trying to get the idea of how this works.

Yes and yes, assuming we trade JG before his roster bonus kicks in. If after, we eat a ton of the money.

We're not going to save any money cutting hi.

First if we cut Galette we lose cap. We only save if we restructure his roster bonus or trade him.
Second, the new team usually assumes all responsibilities that have not been paid yet. What the means is the old team is still stuck with the signing bonus as that's paid up front, but base salary, unpaid roster bonuses, and things like workout bonuses are the new team's responsibility.
Hope that helps.

That wouldn't be a good move, considering Willis is retiring today.

Wouldn't be bad considering Saints just want him gone. SF would be responsible for his salary

Yeah, wasn't expecting that.
And thanks boys, you answered my question.
