Stop that D gave up over 40 points on two occasions. That last month they played the Colts, Jags, and Titans. None of which are were offensive juggernauts so yes they are decent certainly not dominant as the teams I mentioned.

No shite my neighbor flew his flag all year usually he keeps it in the Garage after the first week. 9-7 division champs of one of the worst in the league. They became the NFC south that the Panthers won in 2014. But hey if the Saints hit 9-7 we'll probably okay with it.

Preseason football is the biggest waste of time in sports. College football doesn't have a preseason.
The money you are charging fans for tickets is borderline criminal.

It's time to reduce preseason down to 2 games at most.

The NBA does not need 6 preseason games either.
The NBA mails it in until Christmas day anyway.

MLB might be only sport where you can justify a preseason to get pitchers in game shape.

Yea, I addressed that. Even though their offense had multiple turnovers for TDs in those 2 games

Dude, this is the NFL. Holding any team to under 10 points is absolutely outstanding. Holding a team to less than 7 is pretty damn rare no matter who you're playing. They did it in 5 of their last 9 games.

And they held the Saints, who finished #2 in total offense last year, to 6 points too. Jags weren't exactly an easy out either. That defense was a whole different animal at the end of the year. It wasn't like great offenses were beating them in the beginning of the year.

That really isn't up for debate

They had the 2nd best defense in the NFL at the end of the season last year behind denver. They were a great defense.

They have a great defense. But hey, they may not be as dominant as 2 of the best defenses in the modern era since they're just getting started

I don't think you know the definition of the word decent.

No I don't think you know the definition of great. But hey you are entitled to keep thinking they are great. And maybe they will be this year.

Supported by facts

Here's some more:

Houston’s defense has been the best unit in the league over the last 10 weeks of the season.

In the 9 games since, Houston has 32 sacks and 19 turnovers. They have allowed 264 yards and 12.6 points per game. In six of those games, they held their opponents to 10 points or less. T

have your thoughts on Peat and Kelemete changed since you made this thread?

Nope. I hated the Peat pick and thought we should have addressed guard in this draft. Kelemete is far better than Tim, and I think he can do an acceptable job at RG.

Here, it is in the OP since it was difficult for you to comprehend:

quote:

I hated the Peat and Grayson picks as much as anyone on this board and am still upset we ignored the G position again, but a line of Armstead, Kelemente, Unger, Peat, and Strief should still be an improvement over last season.

quote:

I think Kelemente can give us above average guard play. I've been nothing but impressed with him almost everytime he's gotten the chance. We need average G play from Peat and then we can provide him help with Unger. Armstead, Peat, Unger is a lot of beef

Peat has played well on the left and struggled on the right last year too. I've been calling for him on the left side since this thread.

I read the OP. My question was simple; do you feel the same way as when you started this thread. Surprised the preseason has instilled confidence in you.

Both Peat and Kelemente are better suited for the left side of the OL. Peat's a pussy and Kelemente is more athletic than strong. I'm still hoping we can sign Vasquez or some other competent FA guard to man the right side. Then we can keep Peat at LG and Kelemente as the backup tackle.

Peat is a pussy. Have heard a fellow OL actually say this. The whole unit thinks he is soft

This was made 2 weeks ago. I never said it instilled confidence. Instilling confidence would have actually been addressing the issue in the draft or FA. I called for the changes that we dragged our feet on and finally have made by moving Peat to the left side where he's shown the ability to play well.

Hard to judge this offensive line without a healthy Armstead too, but I certainly don't have confidence in them. I think Peat and Kelemete have ability, and Peat will hold his own at worst next to Armstead and Unger.

If Armstead or Unger goes down, we're fricked.

I completely agree with this. He's a pass blocker more than a road grader. I'm far more concerned with pass protection though. Tim is better at running blocking, but absolutely blows at pass protection.

This is what I've wanted to do all offseason, including last years. We have no depth behind average to below average starters. Peat will be just fine at LG imo. He stepped in nicely for Armstead last year too.
