Hey maybe that annoying as shite reverse to the receiver that Devery and Meach never really seemed to be able to make work consistently will actually do some good this year?

Sorry but that role is solely reserved for the slowest TE on the roster.

When we traded up I think I was seriously ready to punch through the screen if his name was called. Any name not Dennard, Verrett, or Cooks there would have probably done that though(especially Roby or Lee).

Cooks has the play making ability and strength of Harvin but faster and minus all the headaches.

I was hoping for Cooks, but would have been fine with Dennard. If it was Lee, I wouldn't have a TV in my Living Room right now.

But can Cooks handle Roman Harper?

We haven't had a guy who can do that in a while at the WR position

Nope, not since Joe Horn.

From Yahoo
quote:

Brandin Cooks: Cooks was the kind of receiver who it seemed could really be a star if put in the right situation. Well, he ended up in maybe the best situation. The speedy receiver from Oregon State was drafted by the Saints, who traded up to get him. That shows how much they coveted him for their offense. Now Cooks gets to catch passes from Drew Brees, one of the best quarterbacks ever. And you can bet that coach Sean Payton, one of the best offensive minds in the game, will find some fun ways to use him. And the Saints didn't trade up for him to not have him in a big role right away. You want to bet against Cooks winning offensive rookie of the year? I wouldn't.

Am I missing something here:

quote:

Weaknesses
Size is just adequate -- is small-framed and lacks ideal length and bulk. Vulnerable to the jam and reroute. Relatively small catch radius. Has small hands and double-catches some throws. Lacks elite, blazing speed to run by NFL corners and safeties. Will struggle to play "above the rim" at the next level. Was not an impactful punt returner. Limited run strength. Poor blocker.

NFL.Com

How on God's green earth can a guy with 4.33 speed lack "elite speed"?

So he weighs more than Desean Jackson and can run faster than him and jump faster than him?

I'll take it.

That was also posted in another thread and aside from being horse shite I think it comes about from the fact that he is an extremely smooth strider. His feet don't churn fast like other guys because they don't need to. But when you watch him easily blaze past guys you realize he is deceptively fast.

I believe it was said he ran the 40 in the fewest amount of steps, tying with Calvin Johnson who is MUCH taller. That is how smooth he is.

You know, watching him some more and thinking about another guy people wanted instead, I really appreciate that he catches the ball with his hands and does so very well on most occasions.

I have been telling people this since the Saints drafted him. Rarely does he catch it with his body. Our offense will be sick if the line can play better than last year.

The other issue is 40 times vs. game speed (which he is fast in both). Some guys carry their pads a lot better. You can have a 4.4guy that's slower than a 4.6 guy when it comes to game speed.

40s should be run in pads.

Stop watches don't count steps.
I guess the more you read these evaluations the more you see the BS. Pretty amazing these guys get away with making asinine comments like this.

impessive in highlights is how he can glance back and if he sees someone he can visibly kick it up another gear
