I like his size and how he uses his power. Good awareness for the ball. Put him on the other side of Cam and by Nick and Sheldon, you have a beast DLine.

Comment thoughts...

He's similar to Cam in that he's more of a strong side defensive end. We really need that true weakside edge rusher on the line. Thomas is still better than nothing though but not very ideal.

You said the same exact thing about Barnett last week. Why not just make a thread which encompasses all of the 1st round DE's? Next will be "put Takkarist McKinley on the other side of Cam, blah, blah, blah".

But is he soft like the last Stanford kid we drafted near the top 10?

I like this kid. But as mentioned, he isnt the pass rush specialist we are seeking.

The more I watch highlights the more I want Barnett. And then Cunningham.

Cunninghams range makes him a huge threat in the middle of the field. GET EM BOTH!

I watched the whole Stanford vs UNC game and that was one of the most impressive defensive performances from a single player I have seen in a very long time. I know it's hard to judge a player by a bowl game but damn it was impressive. Plus once you start reading into him you realize he is really that good.
I would not be mad about the pick if he were it. He may not be my first choice but his floor is very high I would bet.

I want a pass rushing specialist too. We haven't had a player on defense that teams had to scheme to stop in... I don't know...maybe Glover?

I think we add a pass rusher and CB in FA along with an OG. If we grab those three starters before th draft, I would be fine with Thomas. If we had 2 Cam Jordans with a pass rush specialist on our line with our DTs, we would be sick-nasty.

Great breakdown. If I only knew who to give the credit to.

He could still be on the board in the second round.
He was dominant against Notre Dame. I believe he had like 10 solos and a couple of sacks. Not a sack specialist but led Stanford with 7 for the year and runs a sub 4.6 forty. If he fell to us in the 2nd round I think he could be a great pick.

No chance in hell Soloman Thomas is available at #43. He will be a top 20pick imo.

I wouldn't say no chance but I can dream. But stranger things have happened. He is a little undersized and this is a very defensive heavy draft I would think.
Walter Football actually has him coming to the Saints at the no. 11 spot and that wouldn't break my heart either.

A week ago everyone on here was saying "no way Derek Barnett does not get picked top 5 - top 10." A lot more will change from now till the draft! We should select Cam Robinson if he is available in the 2nd round....
