Seems like their should be some repercussions for ruining our cap this year. We could have really competed if we didn't start the season in the hole.

My mom brought up the point that Benson sticks behind his guys longer than most other owners would, which is why Sean was allowed to come back after being banned for a year (when most other programs would have fired him and gotten a new head coach). So you take the good with the bad.

Seems like we badly need a new GM though.

He got us in this mess, he's proving that he can get us out of it thus far. Nobody here is ecstatic about the rebuild/retool, but he's been making smart decisions overall the past two off seasons.

Two years of decent drafting, two years of smart contracts.

His two biggest free agency blunders were Byrd and Galette (the restructure then cut same year, not the initial extension), that alone set us back another year. His two biggest draft blunders in 2013 and 2014 set us back another year as well.

This offseason will point us in the direction we're going to be going... We can only hope he won't do something stupid like throw 10mil+ at one player. The smart move is to extend brees again

No matter how this is spun, the cap issues we have are primarily because of poor personnel decisions...and Loomis doesn't make those decisions.

Loomis is a numbers guy and he has proved he can push the cap limit and still sign a big free agent every year. It's not his fault those free agents and draft picks have been busts a disproportionate amount of the time. Sean Payton chooses the players that get signed and drafted.

No one would have fired a coach that had won a super bowl 3 years before and was a drive away from hosting an NFC championship the previous year. Especially for that bullshite suspension.
