We have released QB Zach Mettenberger.

Our future would be in no better hands than that of our state's finest qb in years!

Zach's got the arm; has he ever developed a sense of the pass rush, and can he read the field?

His time at LSU isn't that impressive a resume. With an average line, he would get killed by the rush.

His stats jumped a lot, but he was gunning it to Beckham and Landry, and I don't know if he ever read that they were open, so much as he knew before the snap that they likely would be.
This one is going to Beckham unless he's double-covered lining up, then it goes to Landry. Next play, reverse the order.
You can't do that with the Saints' offense, you have to read who's open in the route.

Had a couple bad interceptions because he gunned into double and triple coverage regardless because it was OBJ and Landry. That doesn't cut it in the NFL

Yeah, I see the same thing. He just can't read the defense.

At first, he did try to, and he stood around for 6-7 seconds while somebody had a 50 yd run at him from the blind side, and absolutely killed him.

Next season, you have to think Cameron told him-
"Beckham and Landry are as good as any NFL WRs I've coached. I'm calling a play that has both in routes. Look over pre-snap and see if they are obviously doubled; if not, throw the damn ball to them. If both are blanketed, audible to a run with Hill".

You can't do that on this level.

THE SAINTS SUCKED NOT DRAFTING HIM!!!!!!!!

(my draft day ST imitation)

chuckled at the rotoworld blurb-

His fate was sealed following Pittsburgh's selection of Josh Dobbs. Arguably the least-mobile quarterback of the decade, Mettenberger doesn't have an NFL future.

It would be a wise move to bring him in for camp. It wouldn't hurt to have a solid looksee.

Mett isn't that good of an NFL QB, but I wouldn't go that far. He's pretty much a statue, but he can be decent if he has good blocking. I don't think the same can be said for Grayson.

You might as well extend a camp invite to Jarrett Lee and JJ. Have Les on the sidelines for comic relief.
