Yes I know much of it is due to all the salary cap dead space.
But it also seems they are moving in different direction on defense
We have some talented young guys, I would rather talented young hungry guys fighting for future contracts than some of contract happy assholes ( see J Byrd)

Hoping it all clicks for these young linebackers

How is Byrd an a-hole?

Clearly because he fricked up his knee while practicing and then had that knee swell up around the end of OTAs so that clearly means he is just here for the money. Don't you see?

Based on what? speculation? Injuries?...neither of which makes someone an a-hole or POS

Obviously because there is a thread on Saints Talk with speculation without any validation that Byrd is fully healthy but refusing to play.

It's been less than a year as he played four games last year, and he is a pussy for tearing up his knee?

Not his fault this fan base feels the need to be coddled. So if a player does not sing the praises of this team 24/7 he's a complete dick? I just dont get it.

Is any other fanbase this insecure?

Fans have every right to be frustrated given the chance that he will be the biggest bust in saints history. What's not to get about it?

I think the board turns on posters because it is one thing to be upset about the team, their play, or apparent direction; but to refer to someone as an a-hole or POS because they are injured, bitch about how bad the team is based on preseason games, or that someone is a bust based on a few practices aggravates the shite out of the regular posters.

Because the season has not even started yet and you people already have called him dead in the water based on reports that may or may not be true. The fact that they have done nothing with him might actually mean they seem to be fine with with where he is at. At least wait a little while and give him a chance to recover.

Because he hasn't played a down of meaningful football for the saints and he is our biggest FA acquisition in the last few years

So the four regular season games he played in last year were meaningless?

People forget he was a Top 3 safety at Buffalo when we signed him. Are we suppose to just give up on him?? No need to rush him back, give him a couple of more weeks and let him work himself into shape. If we are still having this conversation in mid-Oct, then we can start to express serious concern about his future...
