Payton was on 870 today and they asked him about Burrow. I know chances are slim to none we get him but Payton had some interesting things to say. Starts at 11:20 mark.

Exactly Peyton would love to get him. He said he knows how hard it is to get a franchise QB. Something fans seem to take for granted with Brees

Yeah but those fans are idiots. The move on from Brees crew really must have just became saints fans in the last 5-10 years

Why? The Saints know Brees can't play a whole year and we know it too. So we are supposed to stick with a QB that can't throw a deep ball until he can't throw it 20yds? It's time to move on and we will do it this year. Just watch. He will be with us but he and the team know that he isn't 2011 Brees.

No one wants to hear this, but there's probably no magic bullet for replacing Brees without going through at least a small period of suckage. It is what it is.

hence, you keep Brees as long as possible, because the replacement will not be as good. Looking for his replacement has been ongoing.

Been a fan probably longer than you've been alive. Let's hope Brees doesn't choke again in the postseason.

The sample size from last season with Teddy gives me hope. Just need to run the ball and play good defense.

You’ve been a fan long enough to not know that Brees made a mistake in the playoffs last year. If anyone choked that game it was the offensive line, not Brees.

If this is true then you should realize better than anyone that prior to Brees, Saints fans absolutely wouldn't be ASSUMING that the Saints would be making the playoffs (but u apparently are) regardless of how they or the QB played in those playoffs!
