Assuming Mickey doesn't figure out a way to kick that can further down the road...

kick that can

That term is over used and misunderstood. People that use it have no fricking clue how the cap really works.

How so? Deferring cap charges from one year to a future year is indeed kicking the can down the road. It will have to be paid at some point.

Right, but it is paid as a lower percentage of the overall cap.

With cap rollover, it makes sense

Bingo.

Pay it now or later it will have to be paid at some point.

Kicking the can isn't the bad thing people make it out to be. The money is on the cap either way.

And the benefit to pushing it is so it hits in later years when the cap balloons (which is has been). So kicking the can has been the right call. That isn't what has been hurting us.

The dead money has affected us the last two years, but I went over why it isn't a cut and dry bad management situation in that thread.

Neither does Mickey cause he can't seem to do shite with it besides hurt the team by bad personnel decisions, deferments and bad drafting.

The window has passed, Saints will settle for just very entertaining games with a Top 5 QB over his career.

Nah. We are going to nab some stud defensive free agents and make a run at a championship in 2017. You can take THAT to the bank, breaux

Like Byrd right? Does that mean they will sign Revis and Sherman? Maybe JPP

The 2017 class has some good defensive talent. I was stoked when we signed Byrd and I don't think I'm alone. The Saints have had good free agent signings in the past. Just because we had a couple bad signings does not mean the rest will turn out that way. Also the more money you have the more likely you are to be able to go for someone that is more of a sure thing.

At this rate by the time the Sai ts sign the right defensive players that would be the year Drew played his age....

So the offense would suffer while the defense is good.

Leading the league in dead money contracts is more of the self inflicted problem.
