I'm not sure why the Pats would go for that.

Not bad Murphy made it over him.

Saints really got great value in the 7th with Murphy. He's a gamer and is going to bust a couple for TD's this season.

Only concern I have is timing. I'd sit Murphy until 1st reg season game to avoid risk of injury.

And he could get hurt on the first kickoff return of the year. Then how worth it was it?

If he does Cooks, Spiller, or a couple other guys could go back there.

Great move for us. guess the pats dont think he would clear waivers. They have to know we will cut him. I dont think he is that good anyway.

It's the typical conditional 7th. If he does not make the team, no compensation.

Pats liked what they saw during joint practices

Bill has been throwing around late round draft picks like ones in a strip club lately.

its a conditional pick, meaning possibly gives nothing to us.

They could just sit him and let someone else do returns in game 4. Not like they have to play him. Let a couple of other fringe guys take a shot at it.

Also yeah if he gets cut we get nothing but I don't think that will happen.

Murphy is a training camp preseason beast but we've actually seen Saunders perform in December

It looks like we knocked this draft out of the park, although it's still really early.

Been a while since we could say that

Well to be fair, Murphy hasn't actually gotten a chance to perform in December. The difference is that Murphy can help out in the backfield while Saunders is more of a WR. Payton has clearly shown he likes RBs that can get involved in the passing game (Bush, Sproles, Cadet). Murphy could fit that mold, especially in light of the fact that Spiller is so unreliable

That's one way for him to not make the team
