Cornerback Fabian Washington has reached an agreement with the New Orleans Saints and is expected to sign with the club today, a source close to the Bayshore High product said.

The seven-year NFL veteran was with Baltimore last season and earned a reported $1.8 million. He is expected to sign for more than $2 million with the Saints, the source said.

There were reports that the 28-year-old might go to Minnesota, Tampa Bay or the New York Jets, but the Saints are said to have offered the 5-foot-11, 175-pounder the best opportunity.

Well, with our recent draft history I'm not surprised.

like it.....has starter experience and is aggressive

also could mean porter is hurt worse than thought and we need a #2 and robinson's not ready yet....or has regressed.

all we have is greer and then 2nd yr and rookie player with porter out. torrence is for ST is spot duty.

Porter has had health issues his whole career and is coming off of surgery. While everyone expects P-Rob to improve and Patrick has promise, it is smart to have another vet that can step in and hold his own. Greer has had some injury issues as well and you can never have enough depth at corner. Nice acquisition.

Agreed. I don't think this means we should be worried about Porter. It's just common sense. We cut Gay, and P-Rob is our only other depth after the starters. Good to have depth/another nickel option.

Yeah, I tend to think it says more about P-Rob than Porter's injury.

Either way, it's definitely a vet-depth replacement for Gay.

A five year NFL starter (Raiders/Ravens) for Gay? I'll take it everyday.
