First we have 15 guys that ST consensus says won't be around at #27, the Top 15- Clowney, Bortles, Watkins, Mack, Matthews (OT), Robinson, Gilbert, Evans, Manziel, Clinton-Dix, Barr, Dennard, Bridgewater, Lewan, and Pryor. If any of these would happen to fall they would likely be must-pick on value alone selections.

Out of the next 12 there should at least be a couple that are available. Here's your ST order of preference- total vote points and 1st choice votes

Mosley 250 (13)
Cooks 179 (1)
Fuller 166 (2)
Verrett 154 (0)
Ebron 153 (4)
Matthews 152 (0)
Roby 142 (1)
Lee 126 (0)
Donald 125 (0)
Beckham 114 (0)
Shazier 113 (0)
Ford 110 (1)
Ealy 95 (0)

Most prolly agree Mosley would likely be a must-pick just on player rating value. He isn't a perfect scheme fit but is such a solid player ya know Ryan would scheme him in.

Ebron came in 5th but I think he could possibly be a must pick player if he was around. It's works out as a question of do we want this player rated at X over a player at a position of more need but not ranked quite as high? If the difference is enough you take the BPA. The idea of an Graham/Ebron attack could be more dynamic than Gronk/Hernandez. Ya know Payton would go nuts with these play designs.

After that I think we have come to the basic wish from the board so far-

Wide Receiver Cooks or Matthews
OR
Cornerback Verrett or Fuller

This was a struggle for me. I would love to pair Graham with Ebron, but with Watson and even Hill behind Graham on the depth chart, TE is not a need. But certainly would be fun.

He is the Jarvis Jones of 2014

Surprises?

Matthews over Beckham, Lee, and Benjamin. This is a bit contrary to most rankings but can't say I think it is out of whack either. Matthews is all around solid.

I question Verrett myself. His skills might be better than Fuller or Roby but his size is a definite issue. I dunno if he could position out of the slot. If going after a CB I think he would have to have #2 potential over a slot role. Verrett looks like a small bodied baller like Casey Hayward or Munnerlyn.

I think he more of the should have been in the Top 15 List Get past him and you get good debate. As said, the essence of opinion comes down more to WR or CB

Just for reference, from the Big Board compiled last year they chose the ST #5 choice among who was available.

Jarvis Jones was the clear WANT but Loomis showed us why they get paid megabucks to scout and we're just message board GMs.

The other 2013 available choices that ST wanted before Vaccaro were Shariff Floyd, Ogletree, & Xavier Rhodes. ST rated Ogletree much higher than he was drafted- and was right about him! He out linebacked every other rookie besides Alonso

Mosley looks the part of a good linebacker but Schazier has a much higher ceiling.

Freak athlete with great closing speed. His numbers at the combine were incredible.

He is the same size Navorro Bowman was when he entered the draft.

I don't understand why everyone is so down on this guy.

Shazier is a specimen, but that is partly why I think people are against him. He's a physical talent, but hasn't shown the instincts you need at the position. I think instincts can often far outweigh physical abilities and that is what I think others have said.

I am not even sure I would take Mosley at #27 given his injury history. Good talent, but he's had a ton of different injuries and potentially one that teams are seriously concerned about.

The are high on Mosley because of his skill set and he played in the SEC. Just have to wonder if some of the BAMA players are overhyped because of the success of the team.
Schazier is a physical specimen and had a great combine but does that really translate into an elite LB? Its difficult to come into the NFL and perform at a high level at the middle linebacker position. Keuchley (sp), being a rare gem.
I would take Mosley there is a high probability of him being there at 27 because teams historically don't take LB's early in the first round.

kinda offshoot, but how bout the difference of message board evaluations vs. real team evaluations?

I'd guess sumpin like this for weighting-

Saints evaluation
65% game film
15% Combine & Pro Days
20% personal workout and interviews

ST evaluation
60% what draft writers say
25% Combine & Pro Days
10% highlight tapes
5% game film

I think game film is too high.

Maybe but there are quite a few around here that might surprise you.
I watch a bit. Below you will see the video my wife took of me while studying the Malcolm Jenkins highlite reels.

It was very...educational.

Watch his game film. He is always on his heels and has no instincts what so ever. He gets blown up and taken out of the play

I really like both. Different types of receivers who would both do well in our offense, IMO.

Cornerback Verrett or Fuller

Fuller please. I agree that Verrett's lack of height will limit his effectiveness out of the slot. I think I would even prefer Roby over Verrett.
