SIAP
A new stat to get "true gauge" on how effective pass rushers really are. Pretty interesting read. Saints are second in pressure rate.
Brief description: Pressure points are awarded based on, obviously, QB pressure (sacks, hits, hurries, drawn holds, etc..).
Rate is calculated by total pressure points divided by total pass snaps.
Seems kind of like another QBR that ESPN creatd. Anyway, just another way of calculating how effective a player is in a particular situation rather than just using the raw data.
Pressure point explanation and stats/leaders
In 70 pass snaps, the defense has 30 hurries, 9 hits, 4 sacks, and 1 drawn hold.

Is this real life? Yes. Yes it is.

And we're last in red zone efficiency. I believe that we have entered the twilight zone.

I assume you mean offensively?

No.
It's another attempt to delve into advanced metrics that ESPN stole from someone else. Like QBR, ESPN fricked it up, only not as bad.

It's why I only trust PFF for stats.

Sorry. I don't know the backstory. But it sounds like we're saying the same thing.

We are. I'm just an argumentative a-hole. I thought you knew that by now.

FWIW I like how they broke it down. Probably b/c it makes the Saints look good but hey, whatever. I think it's pretty cool how they broke it down and at least gave credit to the player who forced the sack or got held on the play
Which makes me think in all seriousness what Will Smith's rating really would be with all the sacks that were directed his way.
The QBR I never cared for. I remember they gave more points for "clutch" plays in crunch time and comeback wins, etc. and not as much credit for plays in a blowout. Which might be nice in theory but they didn't consider that it's a blowout b/c the QB is torching the other team often times

one of the beauties of the greatest team sport is that it is not easily defined by statistics.
I like scouring PFF and these kinda things but for me the eyeball test is the best guage.
Cameron Jordan is having a solid All Pro season after two games. THIS is the DE that was considered a gift at the #24 pick.
From the get go Hicks has reminded me of Ngata. He was just so raw it takes some reps to get there. But once he does (I think he is just starting to bud), watch out.
No secret I was a big pusher for John Jenkins too. Another guy that could have a much bigger NFL career than what you saw in college.
Juneyah & Tez? It's just time to do it.
Ryan has Harper back doing what he does best, including blitzing.
Some fresh talent fo sho but a scheme that fits the personnel and that the players buy into is the diff IMO. Thank gawd Payton changes things when they aren't working. (4 DCs in 7 yrs). Seems like entire eras of my life were spent watching the poor and predictable schemes of OC Carl Smith & DC Rick Venturi.
