@MikeGarafolo: Big move in New Orleans, as Saints + DE Cam Jordan have agreed to a 5-year extension worth up to $60 million, source tells @FOXSports1

@MikeGarafolo: Cam Jordan gets $33.8 million in guaranteed money from the Saints, including nearly $27 million in the next two years.

Not too bad. I guess it's better than him having a 14 sack-contract year and asking for $15 mil/year. I just hope he lives up to it, and performs better than last year. That guaranteed money though, damn.

Hurries are the more important stat and he is huge in the run game. Despite having a "down" year(in regards to sacks) he still played very well in all phases.

That kind of guaranteed money up front sounds like it would be good for both the team and he in the long run in the sense that it he wouldn't have too big of a cap hit on the back end of it......Is that what any of you cap gurus infer, or am I missing it?.......Either way I love the signing......Cam is an all effort every play guy that has zero off field issues and by all accounts seems to be a good guy

Was going to comment on the same thing. Cam is only one person on the line, if the other pieces aren't pulling his weight, he'll be seeing double teams all day and will have limited "box score stats".

huge in the run game

This was the main reason why he was drafted in the 1st and is more than likely the primary reason they wanted to make sure he was locked up.

So, his contract will be heavily front loaded.

I am sure this had as much to do with the way the contract was structured.

Need to spend 89% Cash

The 2011 collective bargaining agreement says teams must spend 89% of the salary cap in cash over two distinct four-year periods (2013-16 and 2017-20).

just glad he is a little younger, because the last 2 DE's we gave big contracts too fricked us over hard

He had a down year compared to his 13 season, but he's still he a really good DE. 28 sacks the last 3 years, with nice play against the run and many hurries as well.

I just hope he lays off the cheeseburgers because he was slower last year than in 2013 and looked slightly bigger. Jmho.

im just praying he isnt Charles Grant 2.0 but im optimistic because i like his work ethic and attitude.

The Will Smith extension has always been a head scratcher to me

How much do you think we'd have to pay if he had a season like 2013?
