Boldins agent probably floated the rumor to garner interest
The fact that the saints would need to "push" to sign a guy that's been on the street for 4 months doesn't really add up

Playing devil's advocate here, but Boldin has made enough money in his career, and has a SB ring, that he doesn't need to play for the minimum, nor for a team that hasn't made the playoffs in over two years. Maybe he really wants to play again, but I don't know if he's jumping at the chance to play for a 7-9 time for a near minimum salary.

With another 1k season, he jumps into the top 10 all time in yards. If he can net 2k more, he's flirting with top 5... 15k yards is a huge benchmark for a WR, there may not be a better opportunity for him to get there then here.
Catch 100 or so balls and he's in top 5 in career receptions
17th all time in yards
12th all time in receptions
33rd all time in receiving TDs
He can cement his legacy and make a run for the hall with 1-2 more solid seasons. Maybe he's chasing numbers since he already has a ring
