So finally we can all agree to go defense with our picks.
Every year at the end of the season, everyone is all about the defense being fixed, every pick should be d, etc. As the off-season progresses, some forget how bad our defense was, and start to clamour for offensive players that would bring marginal returns given our current offensive stature.
If nothing else, im happy this should somewhat focus the fanbase going into draft.

I like it. It's basically a one year deal if he sucks. And if it works out, he can get paid for it. Other teams must have offered next to nothing.

Most fans may not agree with this considering the Defensive woes the Saints have but I think this is a homerun hit. If AP and MI share the workload as well as say someone like Mixon or another young RB, Brees could be even more deadly and our Defense could get more rest if we sustain longer drives. Now go draft some defense and hopefully a 10+ win season can happen.

yep. It's great deal b/c he has no guaranteed money in 2018. Very little risk & a huge reward.

This is just a rough guess here for distribution:
Ingram: 160-200 carries
Peterson: 140-160 carries
Scat back: 60-100 carries
Full back: 5-12 carries
So that would be a maximum of around 472 carries. They had 404 last year which comes out to a little over 25 per game total. 472, rough guess here, would come out to 29.5 per game.
Saints record when the run 30+ times per game: 42-4
We having an aging QB, and on paper, a really solid line. I'd imagine Payton would like to take pressure off of Brees and have a nice running game. The offense works more efficiently that way. This is a cheap move. I like it.
