Rick Smith from Houston calls you

Offers #25, a 3rd, and a 2018 conditional 2nd that can become a 1st if Trubisky plays 50% of season's offensive snaps

What do you do?

I'd take it unless Lattimore is still hanging around. Hard to say who I would select at 25 though,, just because I won't know what the board looks like.

Curious as to your reasoning

The numbers on the draft chart favors the Saints while providing more picks to the organization

Seems like a lot but it's not. If they wanted him that bad they'd offer more tbh. Their first, 2nd and future second. At all we can address a major need at DE or even CB.

If you don't have a specific player or players on the board that your targeting then why not? Of course you consider who might be there at 25 also. Also don't rule out making the trade to acquire more picks then trade back in between 11 and 25.

You swap picks with Cleveland and acquire an additional pick.

Fair

I think Saints will get a ton of calls at 11

You only do that trade if you are not in "win now" mode with a 38 year old QB.

I want CM at 11 frick Foster and I don't think Barnette is worth the 11th pic. I know #7 won't be there at 11 and CM should, he'd be great in the Saints offense. Then double up on defense at 32 & 42. If all else fails trade down 5 spots from 11 and probably still get a guy you have highly rated.

sure that could be negotiated

Win now comment was interesting

Question has to be how close are we. Are we #3 in division considering last 2 NFC Champs come from division and while division has QBS in prime or up and coming.

Hard questions with tough answers

Dropping from 11 to 25 requires a good bit of compensation especially when they target a QB

k
25 is too far down, we have 2 3rd's already, and they'd make sure not to play him 50% to avoid having to give up that 1st rounder...

i'm all about either trading up to top 3 or 4 for Thomas, or down a couple of spots, depending on who's still there at 11....

No. Not enough. And no conditional on a rookie QB performing.

This team hasn't proven they are good enough in the draft to trade back and acquire more picks. Stay up as high in the draft as you can get and take the sure thing

I think you might be overlooking the discount necessary for 2018 picks. The general rule is they are discounted one full round of value.

#11= 1250

#25= 720
#89= 145
that's 865 pts this year

#16 (middle of the round) 2018= 430

865+430= 1295

The 2018 1st WITH NO CONTINGENCY would be fair.

The 2018 2nd would only be 190 pts for a 1055 total. That would be a full 3rd Rd value short

any QB in this draft is not worth #11 to us so I don't know why you think saying Trubisky on the board should mean anything to us at all.

obviously we are going in expecting we take a top first round projected DE or DB but if there is a run on them and all the #11 worthy picks are gone, I see no reason to reach so in that case we have to go offense with a top half of the first round projected WR or RB. if the defensive picks are all gone then there have to be great value left there for a top WR or RB on the board who is worthy of being picked at #11.

I could see trading down from 11 if we get another 2nd and 3rd round picks "this year" and maybe an extra 4th thrown in there somewhere this year or next to equal the value. the 2nd and 3rd rounds are deep with players we need and we need a lot of defensive help but we can also use some fresh meat on the offensive side, so if we could get more picks to address that, it would be a very attractive option.
