In my honest opinion, the Saints have the worst front office in the league. This team is not competing next year for a championship. It should be in a cap conscious rebuild mode.

My brother in Christ… it is the draft. how do you think you rebuild? The saints have probably the worst O line in the league… so they want to draft a very good OT.

Not how you rebuild. That's how you plug holes.

Spending 2 high picks on a potentially good player isn’t rebuilding though.

Everyone else will be 5th rd or later.

You definitely rebuild through the draft; however, we all know there are varying draft strategies.

In the present situation, I think the Saints need a bunch of help and should be looking for the best available.

Probably going to trade this year's first and next year's first, then draft a bust on the D line.

There will be an elite lineman available when we pick

Chicago QB
Washington QB
New England QB
Arizona WR
LA Chargers Tackle (putting Alt here)
NY Giants WR or QB
Titans OL Fashanu or Latham
Falcons DL (Turner or Murphy)
Chicago WR or DL
NYJ Bowers I see going here, not OL though
Min QB
Broncos DL if not QB
Raiders DB

So that will leave the saints at minimum 4 to 5 choices
Latham or Fashanu
Fuaga
Fautanu
Mims
Guyton

Than you can double down in the second round with:
Suamataia
Morgan
Haynes
Beebe
Paul

Is it flashy? No. But you stay pat take two starters and roll with it.

The problem is this is a deep draft and we don't have a 3rd round pick.

Trading up for an OT would be catastrophic

Couldn’t agree more though I’d probably be OK with it if it was for Alt, the by far and away best OL in the draft and it’s not even close.

At worst, he’s going to be an above average starter at LT for years. At best, he’s going to be an All Pro. I don’t think any of the other OTs have that kind of ceiling to trade away future valuable draft capital for.

ETA: I would probably melt tbh.

as expected, they will keep 14 and 40 and trade everything else along with giving up our 2025 2nd or 3rd picks, just to move back to late 3rd round, and come out of this draft with just 3 players,

loomis says we dont need those late picks that could result in 2 to 3 possible starters, or at least be good depth players

why you people still think they might be trying to win, despite all evidence to the contrary,, is laughable

And that is the issue. You need more picks like SFP said to mitigate risk. If you have 3 picks and 1 becomes a starter that is a fail. But if you have 7 or 8 picks and have the same hit rate you get 2 or 3 starters.

Hell if you are going to draft up and give up future capital- why not go up and get ALT??

Because this team might be pretty bad next year even with ALT. Its why you dont give up future assets like first round picks. Mickey does this- he treats the draft like the salary cap- basically frick the future, we’ll deal with it later. Thats when you know theres no accountability at the top.

I have now seen 2-3 people mention the saints being one of the teams making a lot of calls to move up.

But none of the local press has said it yet.

Daniel Jeremiah does the radio call for the Chargers. He’s never got any Saints content which leads me to believe the saints must’ve inquired about 1.5 at some point. I can’t imagine Loomis being that dumb, it would wreck you’re already bare draft capital for the next year or two
