Heard today on 104.9 that the Saints had 65 million in cap space for next year, also with Ingram, Jordan, and Morestead all restructuring the Saints have almost 6 million to sign their draft class. Basically that the Saints do not need to extend Brees unless they wanted to go after a Greg Hardy, or Terrance Knighton type player.

I thought the Saints were in cap hell for awhile?

Bit the cap bullet a year ago. It is finally digesting.

Basically Saints can let Drew play out this year without working on a new deal to see how well he does before resigning him. They only have a few players needing deals next season.

And he can be franchise tagged one more time before he becomes a UFA?

Or two?

For ~40M

Extend him now and next years QB market wont be able to saturate his asking price. If Osweiler is getting 17- 18 million just wait for a real QB to resign or extend.

Not sure what kind of market a 38 year old QB will find... I guess it depends on how he performs next year really... but let him play out this season and see if you can agree on a 2 year deal after that.

His tag would be 43 million. PFT released an article Chad shared in a deleted thread.

Brees could miss all season and sign a top dollar 4 year deal next year in 20 different cities.

Yaaaa. A lot of teams out there that would drop major money on Brees. He's not slowing down yet. Let's get this extension done before next offseason for sure.

Den, Hou, SF, LA, Ari, NYJ, Min, Chi, Cle, Phi, Buf would all pick up the phone to have a word with Tom Condon and highest bidder would win.

Dallas if Romo retires or drops off physically, KC as well might be interested.

That is more than enough bidders to force you to overpay to keep or watch your QB walk for free with no immediate compensation.

Agree. And Dallas would kick Romo to the curb as well

I agree with this gif.
There are still a few tards and trolltards who refuse to see the current price of QB's. See Brock for just one small example.
Try your best to work it out and get him signed on a four year deal.

Or go with Mccown or GFF
