This is who we will be drafting at 27 so y'all better get used to it.....

quote:

SB Nation’s NFL Draft expert Dan Kadar released a post-free agency update to his ongoing series of mock drafts this week, and he has the New Orleans Saints getting a great option at tight end for Drew Brees after the team spent most of its resources on defense: South Dakota State Jackrabbits tight end Dallas Goedert.

quote:

Unless one of the top edge players lands in the Saints’ lap, it’s still difficult to see them not taking a tight end. That’s especially true after New Orleans gave linebacker Demario Davis a three-year contract.

I just can't see why some people have him over Gesicki. Didn't Gesicki beat him in literally everything at the combine?

Yep because a combine performance is entirely what we should base how well a player will perform in the NFL. Sound analysis

So, you are one of those guys.

Gesicki, although athletic, is not counted on for what we need: we need a short yardage player who can get open on intermediate routes. Something that is not a strength of his as of this moment.

Exactly! GoGurt catches the ball with one hand with defenders draped on him, which is what we need. Even though our offense was ranked #2 last season we were ranked #19 in third down conversions. That has to be fixed. We also need a solid red zone target that you can throw the ball up and let him go get it. GoGurt specializes in both of those areas of need for us.

Yes I renamed him GoGurt

I'm not one of those guys, but Godert played at a FCS school (far less competition) AND has lesser measurables. I'm literally asking if anyone can tell me what the catch is. Does Godert run much better routes or catch better?

Also, what you're describing isn't what Jimmy Graham gave the Saints. Size, speed, and athleticism running routes are what made Jimmy great.

Wasnt trying to bash the poster, but that is exactly what we need as you pointed out.

I just dont like the pick in the first round. Wish we could move back and pay equal salary for exoected output. If we cant I expect defense in first round to be our selection. Just a hunch.

Take a look at Dallas G highlights. This kid can flat out play. IDGAF who he was playing against.

Fleener's problem is that he's soft and can't catch. Can you really say those things about Gesicki??? Especially the hands?

Well according to Penn State, Gesicki will be the best player EVER:
quote:

TE @mikegesicki at the @NFLCombine:
?? Taller than Calvin Johnson
?? Stronger than Donald Penn
?? Faster than Antonio Brown
?? Jumps higher than Odell Beckham Jr.
#WeAre

And no, Gesicki didn't beat Goedert at everything; Goedert did the bench press (had a hamstring injury) and put up 23 reps to Gesicki's 22 reps.

This is stupid. I rarely rag on folks on here or any other forums on the rant, but this is stupid. You know why.

Goederts production and ability to get open is in my opinion the best in the draft. He high points the ball very well and runs short intermediate routes extremely well. Gets out of physical coverage very soundly and is a former Hoopster like ya boy Jimmy Graham. Kid is a more finished product in a year we have all agreed upon as "All In".

Terrible time to have a hamstring injury. Does he have a pro day coming up?

FWIW I'd actually be happy with either, especially if we could trade back to the 2nd and get them.

First of all pointing out that the guy played in FCS isn't stupid. Getting open and jumping to catch a ball are a lot easier with a safety who won't make a practice squad on you compared to doing it over Jamal Adams.

Secondly, if you're right that's actually what I was asking. It was a literal question.

Yes and he's a full go for his Pro Day.

I'm just gonna leave these here....

TE in first round would be a disaster.
We are supposed to be in “win now” mode.
TE’s take 3 years to develope (at least two).

2 good looking plays, at least you know he has the hands. I'll be real interested to see the pro day. Like I said, if our people think he's the best, I'm down.

How did Carson Wentz translate so well? Ben Roethlisberger? Joe Flacco? And countless others. And those three are quarterbacks for goodness sakes.

Heck Jimmy G wasnt even that productive at Miami himself. He was a project. If he can play he will shine. Regardless of where he came from.

Dang, i guess Jerry Rice had no business being the GOAT since he came from Mississippi Valley.
