No one wants to think about it, but who would be the Saints quarterback next year if Brees gets hurt??

He's not on the roster yet.

The problem is that few FA QB's want to sign to sit behind Drew Brees. The ones who do are stiffs like Mark Brunell.

Marc Bulger would be a good sign for us, but like Jake Delhomme, Bulger still hopes to get a chance to start somewhere.

I would really like to think for once the Saints have a capable young backup on the roster. Tired of the old has beens or never weres (Jamie Martin, Todd Bowman, Mark Brunnell) and missing out on the ones they should have kept (Bulger, Delhomme). I'd rather they spend their efforts on grooming Daniel instead of wasting it on JR or giving a 40 year old retread the second reps in practice.

Hate to break it to you there's about a 95% chance he's a never-were.

That would not be a total surprise, but for once can't the Saints have a Kevin Kolb or Matt Moore waiting in the wings? A 6th round Tom Brady? It is uncanny the way there is never anyone being "developed". The last one was Aaron Brooks who took over when Jeff Blake went down. And once he sucked, who was there? No one.

No one really has a decent opinion of Daniels since he never took a snap. The second Carolina game would have been a perfect chance to see what he can do. For some reason the coaches never did.

I would lose much respect if the teams GM ever allowed a wasted excuse for a human being like Russell to come near the Super Bowl Saints

Even worse was the awful performance by Brunell.

Maybe he's not good enough yet to even go in a real game. The fact that no one has ever tried to pick him up after any of those times the Saints cut him speaks volumes to me.

jake delhomme was there. he even played very well for us in a couple games. but the saints put all their eggs in the brooks basket and carolina was smart enough to give jake a chance.

nothing with Le Favre would shock me anymore.

And why would we be wasting anything on Jamarcus? We could get him for essentially nothing.

Really hope they make a push for Bulger. I think he would be a GREAT stop gap if the unthinkable happened...

Brunell's was frighteningly bad in that game, but let's face it, the primary responsibility for the backup QB is holding the ball for Hartley. If the unthinkable happens we might be better off putting Reggie back there and running the Wildcat.

Meh. We should put Lance back there, have Pierre in the traditional RB spot next to the WC QB and have Reggie as the motion guy if it came down to that.
