Sources: #Saints & Adrian Peterson believed to be closing in on a deal that’d pay him $3M+ in ’17. Not done, but moving in that direction.

Have heard the #Saints are closing in on a deal for RB Adrian Peterson. Nothing final yet but both sides motivated to get it done.

On Adrian Peterson: His expected salary from #Saints of $3.25M will be less than Mark Ingram makes in '17. NO is respectful of Ingram's role

Who reporting that? $3 million plus is too much unless part of that is incentives.

I'd be perfectly fine with that number.

Any idea what other deals he turned down with other teams? Were there any other offers?

We have the cap room. If it is just 2017 at that number. Why not?

I love AP and all, but we already have a pretty good HB in Ingram, and we don't run the ball nearly enough to justify bring in All Day Adrian Peterson.

I consistently argue with people on this board who think Ingram, who had a $2M cap hit last year, is overpaid, and then this deal rolls in and everyone thinks its a great deal. Makes no sense

ETA: I like the deal. 3M is nothing, just like the 4m/Yr we pay Ingram is nothing. I just think its funny that nothing is ever relative for this board.

No sense whatsoever.

I'm ok with brining in AP but I want it as close to the minimum and with as many incentives as possible. I personally think he may be done.

I'm a big MI fan. But after what I saw last season, when he got benched and Hightower came in and starting running the ball, MI then came back with a purpose and ran for 1000 yards. He needs someone to push him. And who better than AP.
