This list may be incomplete and it may have some errors. UDFA information is sketchy past about 2007. Wikipedia has some UDFA errors for the Saints. Tom Dempsey, Tony Baker, and Bennie Thompson are listed as UDFAs, but were not really UDFAs by the modern definition.

In addition, Lance Moore is not a Saints UDFA. He was with the Browns.

10. ELEX PRICE (1973): Played 8 years at DT for the Saints (1973-1980). Started 57 games.
9. RICHARD COOPER (1990): Five-year starter for the Saints at LT and RT from 1991 to 1995
8. FRANK WATTELET (1981): Four-year starter at free safety from 1983-1986. 12 career INTs, 10 fumble recoveries, 1 TD.
7. EMANUEL ZANDERS (1974): Started 76 games at guard between 1975 and 1980.
6. JUNIOR GALETTE (2010): 31.5 career sacks with the Saints. 30 starts in 5 seasons.
5. CHRIS IVORY (2010): Saints leading rusher in 2010. 1,307 rushing yards and 8 TDs for the Saints. Went on to become a Pro Bowler with the Jets.
4. BRETT MAXIE (1985): Played 9 seasons with New Orleans. 72 career starts. 15 career INTs.
3. KEITH MITCHELL (1997): Five seasons with the Saints. Four-year starter at outside linebacker. 2000 Pro Bowler. 4 INTs, 8 fumble recoveries, 18.5 sacks, 3 touchdowns.
2. PIERRE THOMAS (2007): 4th leading rusher in Saints history (3.745 yards). 8,302 all-purpose yards. 40 career TDs. Scored the first Super Bowl TD for the Saints.
1. SAMMY KNIGHT (1997): Six-year starter for the Saints (89 starts). 3rd all-time in Saints history with 28 INTs. 4 pick-sixes. 10 fumble recoveries. 438 career tackles. 2001 Pro Bowler

I understand there are a lot more UDFA than 6th&7th round picks, but it's amazing how much better this list is compared to the 5-7th rounds.

The guys drafted before the 90's are real impressive.. They had like 17 rounds in those days.

Same here. I really look forward to the undrafted free agency after the draft because we always seem to pick up a quality player

Mauti deserves to be in the Top 10. Very good on special teams as a returner and when he was put in as receiver could surprise a few people.

Obviously I disagree, but I don't think it's far-fetched.

It came down to this:

1. PT was a platoon player. He was never THE man.
2. Sammy Knight was an every-down player.
3. I think Knight was a top ten safety in the NFL hands down in his prime. I don't think you can argue that PT was anywhere near the top ten at RB at any point in his career, maybe never even top twenty.

That doesn't mean I'm trashing PT or saying he's crap. He's my #2. Obviously I appreciate the guy. I'm just telling the rationale for putting Knight ahead of him.
