Why didn't he just pull the GM to the side and yell at him for 5 minutes because he didn't do what he wanted him to do?

Saban isnt exactly the most trustworthy source. The man has a forked tongue.

Amazing that it's someone else's fault again.

Everyone was wrong, even Saban (kinda).

LINK

quote:

“You’ve got to have a quarterback," Saban said. "We had a chance to get one here -- sort of messed it up.

"So I didn’t feel like I could impact the team the same way that I can as a college coach in terms of affecting people's life personally, helping them develop careers by helping them develop careers by graduating from school. There's a lot of self-gratification in all that."

That's interesting. Saban has spent a long time blaming Huizenga or the medical staff or the weather for his choice of Culpepper over Brees. At least now he's including himself in the list of folks who messed up the decision.

Sort of, as he said.

Another fun link
quote:

Brees remembers it slightly differently. In his book, "Coming Back Stronger," Brees said he and his agent, Tom Condon, believed the Dolphins were simply trying to leverage him for a cheaper deal. He said Condon told him the battery of medical tests Miami conducted on Brees was a negotiating tactic to lower Brees' asking price.

"Here's what's going to happen: Miami will call tomorrow," Brees said Condon told him. "They're going to say that the physical didn't turn out as well as they had hoped. They're going to threaten to pull the offer. ... Not only do I know it, but I can pretty much guarantee it."

Brees said that's exactly what happened. The next day, Brees said Saban told him the Dolphins' medical staff believed he had only a 25 percent chance of coming back and playing and that the Dolphins would have to lower their initial contract offer to him.

I'm so conflicted over this guy because if he didn't leave LSU, the Saints would have never won the Super Bowl. So he's directly responsible for the first championships in my lifetime for my two favorite teams.

Saban's an average coach on game day if he doesn't have the better talent and he couldnt judge talent in the NFL. I don't know why this is surprising.

Yes. He lets LSU hang around too much (2008,2012) Iowa 2004 plus countless games when he was at LSU. Either that or he surrounds himself with below average assistants which could be the case. See: Kirby Smart, Lane Kiffin, Kevin Steele etc

He's lying, and rather surprisingly has been called out by the media for doing so already. Read some of Jason Cole's tweets.

15 years later and he's still running a seam route to the TE on the first play in OT and LSU's coaching staff was the only one that didn't know it.

TBH, I think every agent can be considered an a-hole. Remember, they typically have to be lawyers first.

He was promised full control. According to him, once the chips were down, WH let listened to the doctors and overruled him
