• On eight-time Pro Bowl quarterback Drew Brees
quote:

“He’s as good as advertised. I was telling [defensive coordinator Sean] McDermott earlier, if you can pressure Drew or get him uncharacteristically uncomfortable early, he actually starts to be a little human and makes some bad throws. But when he’s hot, he’s hot. Last night he started hitting. I think he was 11-for-11 in the second half.’’

• On playing the Saints for the first time since he was released:
quote:

“I’m definitely excited. I know who this team is. I’m still friends with a lot of guys there. At the end of the day it’s just another game. You can’t get too caught up in, ‘Oh, it’s me versus them,’ because that’s not it. It’s really all about Carolina versus the Saints, a battle for the division lead.

“It’s not about me at all, nothing personal. It’ll be nice when I go back to the Dome [in New Orleans] just to see how it is. But here it’s just another game.’’

• On facing Saints running back Mark Ingram:
quote:

“They say it’s always time for a contract year. It’s about that time for him, so I’m excited for him. Roll Tide. He’s like my little brother, man. It’ll be fun to actually bang him a little bit.’’
(gay Bama incest)

• On whether he can help steal some of New Orleans’ offensive signals and if he remembers anything:
quote:

“I’m sure they’re going to change some things. They’re not going to be, ‘Oh, Roman is over there. He’s not going to remember.’ ’’

“Of course I remember some things. I was there for a long time.’’

I think he's bluffing about the signals, personally.

It's like baseball. Indicators change throughout the game. Plus they radio in plays

Hopefully, they remember going against Fujita when he went to Clev and how that game turned out. Unfortunately, it is a short week and they may be limited on what they can do.

PFT

quote:

The Panthers’ efforts to mount a comeback against the Seahawks with 47 seconds left were compromised by the fact Harper laid on the ground after not making a play, costing them an injury timeout.

“Roman was fine,” Panthers coach Ron Rivera said, via Bill Voth of Black and Blue Review. “The doctor said, ‘What happened?’ He said, ‘I tried to dislodge the ball, it was a big hit. I was actually just laying there for a second, and the referee thought I was hurt.’”

Harper stayed on the ground after trying to put a shot on Seahawks tight end Luke Willson, but it didn’t work, as he scored the game-winning touchdown. But because Harper stayed on the ground pouting, the Panthers were charged an injury timeout in the last two minutes.

“I was pissy,” Harper said. “It’s part of the game, part of my emotions. I was just trying to make a play. . . .

“I hate I wasn’t over there a little bit more for Tre [Boston, the other Panthers safety], trying to help him out. I just tried to give [Willson] everything I’ve got, which obviously wasn’t enough. He made the catch, touchdown, and that’s all she wrote.”

Oh Roman.

While that is definitely true, I think we have probably changed up enough signals/calls/cadences from last season to this season in preparation vs. Detroit/Lombardi.

I hope Brees abuses Harper's slowness

As much shite as people gave him, he's really a classy guy. You can tell by these statements.

He's a good guy. He just wasn't good in coverage. Hopefully we can exploit that. But, I don't hold any ill will toward him.

I'm so fricking glad this guy isn't on our team anymore. The worst of the worst.

Brees knows it too. Look for a lot of Graham/Cooks/Colston over the middle

He is a very good box safety and excels when sent on blitzes. People constantly bashing the did are just stating the obvious, yeah he's not good on coverage. But not many SS's are either.
