Yes. Let's cut toon or Stills to make room for him. Totally.

I know, can we cut Sproles for Ray Zellars and Jimmy Graham for Cam Cleeland? Then we'll see what we can do about getting some more Tigers on this roster.

yea lets get rid of a promising sure-handed receiver to pick up a wash up who played abysmally last year and is at the end of his career. brilliant

Promising? Tanner is a nice story, but has really no big future. He likely will play some special teams. Otherwise, he will be a healthy inactive for most of the season unless there are injuries. I do not see the infatuation with him.

Nice story but not a huge Tanner fan myself. He could have a future in a Lance Moore type role though. Here's another tough capped payroll reality...

Lance has only been a $2.3mil cap hit even last year. This year $4.5mil, $5mil in 2014, and $5.5mil in 2015. That's not horrendous until you weigh his age. He turned 30 this year. It becomes a tough pill when a longtime team player declines and his salary escaltes. Love some Lance but anytime past 30 WRs can fall off dramatically in production.

Eventually you have to ask is a Player A who produces X for Y amount of dollars a better fit than Player B at Z salary with less proven track record. NFL success= who gets the most bang for the $123million bucks. Again, not talking right now or this year. With a cap though you cannot cement a solid core forever (Niners, Cowgirls, pre-2000s). Success requires continuous roster change to accomodate the cap. I actullay like the way the Ravens did it after winning the SB. Don't they have more new starters than returning on D this year?

Four picks away from landing Dwayne Bowe instead of Meachem that year. I still remember the collective FRICK everyone let out when the Chiefs drafted him.

Gil Brandt thinks so, at least:

quote:

@Gil_Brandt: Meachem signing by @Chargers will go down as 1 of worst ever. Paid $9M in 2012, $5M 2013. Someone will sign him for min, guess is @Saints.

Robert Meachem had some good moments in a Saints uniform, but he was never consistent enough to really be a premier receiver for the Saints. He was a burner who could catch the deep ball, but all in all, he didn't perform well enough to justify the Saints taking him with the 1st round pick. Ironically, I think the only TD he scored as a Charger last year was against the Saints!

Well, I guess we should dust off his favorite stationary bike.
