the more I look, the more I can see him being a Saints type pick.

Various scouting report highlights...

STRENGTHS Smooth in his routes and lulls cornerbacks to sleep before hitting sneaky second gear to gain separation over the top. Accelerates through deep balls. Does good job of stemming routes. Can get open on corner route from the slot. Quick to find ball in flight and make adjustments to seal the deal. Hands-catcher who snatches away from his body. Runs sharp, in-breaking routes to maintain separation from lurking safety. Ran a variety of routes at Georgia. Recognizes how to plant his flag in open spaces for quarterback to find him. Gets feet inbounds when catching near sideline and end zone.
WEAKNESSES Needs to add more polish to his routes to open wider throwing windows. Can be redirected and thrown off course by press coverage. Takes time to ramp back up to desired play speed when defenders get hands on him. Won't flash the desired quickness and foot speed to get himself open underneath. Won't light it up after the catch. Dropped way too many throws during drills at the combine.
DRAFT PROJECTION Round 3
SOURCES TELL US "As soon as he popped those numbers at the combine, I promise you that everyone went scrambling for his tape. Hard to tell if he's a workout warrior or an NFL starter after you watch his tape. He's going to get drafted high based on those numbers though." - AFC offensive coordinator
NFL COMPARISON Cody Latimer
BOTTOM LINE Tall receiver who showed off blazing speed and explosiveness in the combine. Conley displays a natural feel for the position and has hand strength and body control to make tough, contested catches. Lacked gaudy numbers in run-heavy Georgia offense, but his productivity per catch will certainly be noticed by NFL teams. Issues with catching the ball consistently at the combine raised some eyebrows.

Highest chest bump in history?

STRENGTHS: Lightning quickness with effortless acceleration, hitting top speed in a blink. Easy release off the line of scrimmage with sudden feet to beat jam and get vertical. At his best with one-cut routes (slants, outs, digs, etc.), using his strong plant foot to explode downfield.
Has a fifth gear to shift into overdrive and zoom past defenders. Zone buster who continues to work and get open, sitting down in open zones. Tracks very well, making natural adjustments and the occasional acrobatic grab. Good leaping ability to elevate and attack with long arms (33 3/4 inches).

Eliminates pursuit angles as a ballcarrier. Averaged 18.2 yards per catch as a senior (third-best in the SEC), leading Georgia in receiving yards the last two seasons with two different quarterbacks. Natural leadership traits with the competitive hustle that stands out ? elected as the SEC representative to serve a two-year term on the NCAA SAAC Committee.

High character individual with notable intelligence and ambitions outside of football ? the type who can do anything if he sets his mind to it.

WEAKNESSES: Lean-limbed and lacks ideal bulk and core strength for the position. Needs to calm himself in his breaks and tends to get out of control at his stem. Too upright in his routes and doesn?t consistently sink-and-shake to fool defenders and create separation. Too easily slowed by defenders in his patterns and can be out-muscled at the top of routes.

Bad habit of unnecessarily jumping at the catch point. Usually strong hands, but will fight the ball at times and lose focus, often too concerned with what?s going on around him. Tentative over the middle.

Doesn?t consistently flash the same explosive attributes after the catch ? not overly shifty in space. Not a tackle breaker and he?s usually done once defenders make initial contact. Needs to tweak his blocking technique to better sustain.

Doesn?t have any experience as a return man on special teams. Minor durability concerns, missing two games as a junior (Oct. 2013) with an ankle injury and was slowed at the start of his senior season due to a subluxation of his right shoulder (Aug. 2014).

PLAYER OVERVIEW

Well-known for his Star Wars-inspired student film that he wrote and directed, Conley again grabbed headlines after a standout performance at the 2015 NFL Combine. But scouts and NFL teams have been high on the Georgia pass catcher for a few years.
He led the Bulldogs in receiving the last two seasons, using his natural speed to beat single coverage in man coverage and attack open areas vs. zone, although his routes and ballskills have room for refinement. He isn?t quite as explosive after the catch, but Conley has the athletic traits for his size and length that NFL teams covet.

A three-star receiver recruit out of high school, Conley received several offers from ACC and SEC programs, but he wanted to stay home and play for the Bulldogs.

He played in 11 games as a true freshman and recorded 16 catches for 288 yards and two touchdowns. Conley saw his playing time increase as a sophomore in 2012, starting three games and finishing with 20 receptions for 342 yards and six touchdowns. He became a full-time starter in 2013 as a junior (nine starts), leading the team with 45 catches for 651 yards and four scores.

Conley started 11 games as a senior in 2014 and finished with a career-best 657 yards on 36 catches, leading the team with eight touchdown grabs. He accepted an invitation to the 2015 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.

26min film he wrote and directed

nice highlights

scoured comments-
***Mike Mayock recently said that Conley reminded him of Jordan Matthews, a guy who went on to perform at a high level in his rookie year with the Eagles and I can definitely see that. Although his production wasn't off the charts, he made the most of the opportunities he got with high averages and a decent number of touchdowns. I like his body control and his hands and he timed quicker at the combine that he appears on film, and that's always a concern. Obviously Georgia were a run heavy scheme, however he was an important cog in this offense.
I actually really like Conley as a prospect and he surprised me at the combine, but as a mid-round guy who has the potential to become a very good #2, there is something there

***Conley’s strongest skill at the moment is as a deep threat, as his explosiveness and exceptional straight-line speed allows him to get a strong jump off the snap and blow past corners. He can also be a real weapon in the endzone, as his strength and physicality will enable him to come down with contested balls, especially against smaller defensive backs. He’s a receiver with the ability to consistently pick up yards after the catch, as he’s not simply content to go down at the point of contact after getting possession. He does need to improve his route-running skills, and his catching skills aren’t the most polished; he needs to rely less on his body to come down with tough receptions. Obviously, his lack of college productivity is also going to work against him a bit as he tries to establish draft stock.

Conley’s expected draft position is highly debatable at this point. He certainly didn’t seem likely to be selected before putting himself on everyone’s radar with a spectacular combine performance, but now that everyone has had a chance to go back and look more closely at his film, he could definitely move up boards. Conley’s previous low profile may hold him back, but if teams are willing to take a bit of a risk and judge him on the talent that he’s showcased both on tape and at the combine, he’s good enough to merit a selection in the middle rounds.

***Conley seems to have untapped upside, so an argument can be made he’ll be a better pro than he was a college player. His combine performance will get him drafted, and Conley showed enough glimpses of those physical tools during games to think he can be a productive pass catcher at the next level.

Any team that drafts Conley will be betting on his upside above anything else, and the risk attached to him will be lessened by being able to take him with a Day 2 or a Day 3 pick.

one more... for those who X off Gregory or DGB from Payton's leadership comments then Conley should be garnering bonus points. He has as many glowing comments about his personality as any prospect I have seen.

Off the field and in the locker room, you won’t find a better person anywhere in this or any other draft. Conley’s work in the community, as a student, and as a leader on the Georgia campus and in the collegiate football world is inspiring, as he is a smart, well-spoken player with a bright future ahead of him outside of his abilities on the field. If he puts the time and work into his overall game and routes, there is no reason why Conley’s best football shouldn’t be ahead of him.

Never really put it all together at UGA, not sure why we'd expect otherwise in the NFL.

Agree. Don't think he'll be more than a back of the depth chart receiver.

What if that isn't until the 3rd or 5th Rd?

Undrafted
Wes Welker
Victor Cruz
Antonio Gates
Rod Smith 849 catches
Colston was 4 picks away from undrafted
etc etc

-just a reminder how imprecise the science of drafting is

I can come post more later (on mobile Atm) but I have some good info on this guy. I graduated HS with him, and I know a good bit about him. I'm really hoping we pick him. The guy has outstanding work ethic and is a natural leader. His character stuff isn't just a mask, he's a really caring guy who has always done stuff to help the community. He will always work hard to be the best. It's just how he is. I would be 100% comfortable using a third rounder on him. I'm very confident he will be successful in the NFL.

what I meant is what if there is no WR selected in the 1st or 2nd Rd. He then could be the first one taken.

-great info Rand

You're my favorite poster around this time of year. Good job man.

Chris could be a great mid round pick with his height and athleticism.

Love his size, athleticism, ability, leadership, and character.

Hasn't put it together on the field though.

That said, I would love to get him in the 5th. 3rd is too early for him.

I'd love to get this guy in the 3rd. I'll be stoked if we can get him and the CB from Oregon in the 3rd.

My dream picks for the draft:
First pick: pass rusher preferably Gregory
2nd & 3rd picks: ILB/o-line
4th & 5th: ekpre-olomu & conley
