For those that follow One Angry Midget on Twitter, you know he's possibly the most reliable leaker of Saints info out there.
He's been right, many many times, about a variety of things. And he's been on this Butler thing when everyone thought it was done after the cooks trade. Anyway:
We will see.

Generous offer? Rut row, we screwed again. How about a decent offer?

That's what I'm hearing as well. He's had a standing offer since Friday; probably just needs the weekend to think it over. 32nd is still the trade deal, not the 11th like that 'tard Lombardi is saying.

Please say right now what you think is an offer that is acceptable for Butler to come to New Orleans. Just curious if you are a realist or the same type of person that screams that football players are overpaid every time a team dishes out $20m/year for a franchise QB.
Every indication from the media is saying $10-12M a year is his market value. I for one am ecstatic we are paying premium dollars to sew up a position that hasn't been the same since we had Greer and Porter running around back there. Butler doesn't seem to be the type of guy who takes a check and then checks out either.

Can the Saints legally trade back 32 to NE?

I've searched everywhere, and have found nothing that says it can't.

Same thing I thought when I first heard it.
No there isn't any rule that prohibits this.

So if we trade the 32nd pick for Butler, what is the net trade off for both teams?

Basically Butler and a 4th for Cooks and a 3rd
Unless other compensation is swapped in the Butler trade.

we get butler and patriots 3rd for cooks and our 4th

that seems fair outside of us having to give him a big contract and them getting cooks cheap for a couple of years.

32nd is still the trade deal
Still don't like this deal, if only because it shows how stupid the Saints are as compared to the Pats. Belichick turns an undrafted free agent into a 1st round pick, and trades him just before he has to overpay him. The Saints turn a player that cost a 1st and 3rd into a worse 1st round pick, and trade him while he's still got 2 cheap years left, just so we can give the pick back and pay an assload to some other guy. Don't be someone else's sucker, even if you think it helps you. It never does.

Trade will be the #42 and next year's 4th.
Contract for Butler 5 years 60 mil.

I'm not sure I understand this logic. If a player is worthy of a top contract at his position doesn't that mean his value on the trade market is high also? Meaning he's a top CB in the league, so shouldn't his current team's asking price be commensurate with that and NOT based on what we'll have to pay him? I'm sure NE couldn't care less about his contract with us, they want value.
The 32nd pick for a young, established All-Pro CB is good value to me.

So don't get a top corner because Butler was undrafted? Don't get a top corner because the Pats are a smart organization?
I would prefer us to keep #32 but it's not a fleecing if we do.

Meateye, is this the official terms or what you think it will be? Thanks
