Realistic Prediction for the Season

a lot of teams in the nfl are addressing needs and will be very good next year...cowboys, vikings (with brett farve), jets, ravens (with boldin), etc...we play the vikes, cowboys, bengals, and ravens to name a few...can the saints make another super bowl run now that evans and sharper have re-signed, and with this vicodin thing looming?

I say at worst, 11-5. We really have a solid team here and I am PUMPED to see us play this year.

I said 12-4 prior to last season and I will say it again. Why not? Just think if Brees stays injury free and the defense created turnovers and ranks higher than 25th. Why not?

i called 13-3 last season... ask anybody
i will say 14-2 or 13-3... i will tell you exactly what it will be after training camp

Talent-wise, experience-wise, we are actually better than we were last year.
But a possible lack of hunger/motivation, and those inevitable but unforseen key-injuries (excluding a Brees injury) could affect the season negatively.
Realistically, we could go 14-2 or at worst, 11-5.

So how can we "ask anybody" about your 13-3 prediction? Given the fact that you didn't even join or post on TD until December 18, 2009, I call bullshite.
At that point we were 13-0 and it was probably pretty damn easy to predict a great season. Nice try, though.

I think it's too hard to predict because the biggest factor will be health. At full strength last season we were typically 2 TD+ winners in dominant victories. Saints are the most talented team in the league. Defense still has some holes but it's good enough because the pass D is solid and no one can stop our offense.
If relatively healthy I say 14-2 or more. With enough key injuries at bad times 11-5.

Well our defense was basically destroyed by injury last year so is no reason to not expect a similar record is we have a more normal year in terms of injury.

one of the better prediction threads from August 09
I had them down for a first round bye and SB win myself. I've always hoped it but only predicted it prolly 3-4 times in history.
Repeat? I'm not ready to sign that yet. The plain odds are just so great. Another 12+ win is certainly possible though. I am thinking the NFC South is losing the parity and rotating champs it has had. The Saints could have a dynasty type run. The Falcons could be good. What I'm hoping for them is something like the Saints in the 80's- stuck in the same division with the team of that decade.
+ factors
-confidence, been there, done that
-quintessential best offense in the direction NFL game is evolving to
-3rd most IRed players last year, barring key player injuries it will have to be better in '10
-2nd GW year, there was a lot of learning last year, it will be all the more of honing and refining that this year. Forget all the stats- before the Porter/Greer injuries the D was starting gel nicely.
-2009 success with essentially a backup DB and punter for draft picks. This year add 4-5 guys to push for spots along with Vaughn and Arnoux. Prolly the deepest Saints team in history. Some cut players will make other teams regular rosters.
-Quite a run of finding off the radar players that contribute. You almost assume to ask, who will it be this year?
-the first half schedule is more conducive to a run than the second. Building momentum and a lead is always better than having to push for a big finish.

I'm thinking we lose two of these games... Maybe the Jets and Ravens. Mostly because I think Farve will fall off this year if he comes back and I don't want to think about losing to the damn Cowpokes two years in a row. That said I think we go 11-5 or 12-4.

It all depends upon injuries and the timing of injuries.
On offense, we weren't that much different in 2008 v. 2009. But, when Colston went down, and then Reggie went down, our season sort of imploded.
So, if we can stay relatively injury free, or at least spread out our injuries with no big season ending injuries, I'm predicting 11-5 and AT LEAST a trip to the NFC Championship game.

Bet you we don't beat the Jets this year. Not in the regular season.
12-4
