Never draft a 1st Rd WR even if your roster is completely void of any WRs.

With the apparent lack of OL coaching on the Saints staff, the team needs to pick OL players that originate from known great OL coaches at name brand colleges. The Saints are no longer able to polish diamonds in the rough.

Carr can’t hit anyone more than 10 yards down field with the D-Line in his face anyway

There's a high probability that you don't even understand the counter argument being presented to you. Jesus frick.

This is exactly what they should be drafting. The value is there where we are picking unless the Georgia te falls in our lap.

Yea, Wonder how much better our team would be if we had moved up a few spots and got Jefferson instead of Ruiz like I said a few years ago……

We must get below the cap in a few weeks. How much money is left will determine how many holes we fill via FA's and thus what major needs if any must be addressed in the draft.

Would expect the restructures should start soon. The obvious ones are Carr, Davis, McCoy, Ruiz, Granderson, Shepherd, Moreau, Saunders, Gray and maybe Mathieu, Kpassagnon, Johnson. Others to consider - Kamara (depending on what they decide his future is), JWilliams (same), and Hill. If Ram decides to retire, I would expect he would renegotiate his deal to a league min base and retire after June 1. Would expect they release Maye and maybe Hurst.

Not a numbers guy but can we get under without extending Carr?
It sure would be nice if possible.

probably but its not gonna be done in a way that truly allows for signing extras to really try to win now. Loomis isn't folding the cards to tank.

I think it would be difficult for any of us to speculate at this point because of some apparent weird language with MT & Latt's deals that has them under contract for 2024 while also making it easy to move on from them with minimal impact to the cap.

With that said, yes it can be done without extending Carr, but I would think that would put us in a tight position and minimize offseason transactions. I have a feeling they are already working on adjusting/restructuring Carr's deal as the current team views him as the next QB for a few years.

Ram is saying all the right things and has come out to say he plans to play in 2024.

One possibility kicked around on this board is what if Ram decides to stay under contract in 2024 with the knowledge that he'll be IRed the entire season. The team then can restructure his deal to reduce his 2024 & 2025 base salaries, he gets to continue receiving medical care through Saints/NFL, then he does a 6/02/25 retirement to really do the team a solid.

We need to replace a player that hasn't been on the field in 3 years with a first round pick? I'm trying to do the math here and it just doesn't seem to add up.

this ^^^^^^^^^^

we saw first hand this year, what its like when the QB has less than 1.5 seconds before getting sacked, and next year it will be worse unless we get 2-3 draft picks and/of FA signings as immediate starter impact players on the o-line

you can have scrub WRs and still have a good offense as long as the QB has time to wait for WR to come open. without that, you can have 10 jerry rices out there but your QB is already sacked so none ever get a pass thrown to them.
