So Unger had a foot injury in week 14 of last season.
Why wait so long for the surgery?
I'm not an orthopedist, but seems like a reasonable question.
Maybe he had it right away and wasn't reported?

From a player's perspective, if there is potential for it to heal on it's own you want to go that route over undergoing surgery.

When that wasn't working it was decided to do the surgery.

The players aren't just cogs. They're people. It's easy for us to just say get the surgery.

pretty easy to be critical if they don't play also. They aren't making chump change to play professional football.

sometimes even the logical explanation holds no water.. cause like Mora said.. you think you know..but you just.. don't.. know.

what we have here is two media guys reporting different info.

bottom line is that there is some doubt if Unger will be at full strength come September and beyond.

hoping for the best but lately (the way things have gone) the last few years.. I'm not optimistic.

i'll be the first one to take a " I told you so" if Unger recovers quickly and this isn't an issue.

Which is why he tried to play through it, and why he eventually had surgery to try to be ready in time for the season.

goes back to what I was saying before.. hope he didn't get shite advice from the trainers.

I'm not here to rip him or defend him. Its just.. one of those things where he's damned if does and damned if he doesn't. but maybe not.. i remember KV being suspended towards the end of the year and people not totally losing their shite about it. I think people knew what was up by then as far as our season. Too much up-and-down so not much optimism.

I'm just pissed the Saints may be potentially screwed at center.
