Armstead wasn't a second so that pretty much kills the whole article for me.

Weird for PFF to get that detail wrong.

2, 3, and 4 are NFC South teams. Interesting.

PFF thought our OL was pretty decent last year.

I think it was not terrible.
We're just used to better.

And the pass blocking was worse.

I'm mostly in agreement with them.

Our tackles and C are rock solid. Only G is a hole, but the guys we have are actually pretty damn good in the run game. Lelito was a dominant run blocker last year (and I know PFF agrees). That really is a lot better of a situation than most OL are in.

Crazy how good this Oline could really be if the guards step up!

I find it funny that Armstead only played six games and only started two games as a rookie and just did ok. Then he played great the next year. Peat played in twelve games last year and started eight games and got better as the season went on.

How about we give the rookies more than double digit starts before bashing them.

But if you aren't all pro your first year you'll never be good.

Just ask Mr. 28 Picks Thrown His First Year Peyton Manning.

Armstead was drafted in the 3rd round and wasn't expected to start or be a major contributor in his first season. He became a starter in his 2nd season. You draft a player at 1-13 with the intention of having him start immediately or being a major contributor which Peat was neither!! And I don't seem him starting in his 2nd season either!!

You have a point here but Peat is actually good. If anything shift your anger over to Strief, he's the one who should be cut or traded to get Peat in there with Armstead. Peat will make a pro bowl. Wouldnt be shocked if he was an All pro one day he's huge downlow with quick feet.

I am not saying our line were world beaters, but our WRs inability to create separation, IMO, often magnified our Oline's struggles.

I hate this mentality. I understand it, but rookies used to sit the bench and come in after two or three years. Now if you don't start immediately, you're a bust. Besides, Peat did start half the games last year. And as I said, he got better as the year went on. And compare him to some of the other OTs taken recently, Luke Joekle, Tyler Lewan, Eric Fisher, Jason Smith and Eugene Monroe. And he's better than Charles Brown. I'm not saying he'll be all-pro, but let's just keep an open mind about him.

I tried making a similar point all of last season..

Others had us ranked as one of the better offensive line units and many Saints fans couldn't understand it..

but often fans are not looking objectively at the bigger picture.. they just see their teams struggles and assume they are among the worst.. without truly looking around the league..

the offensive line play in the NFL this past season was extremely down.. could that be the defensive line play is just better? maybe? not sure why. but many teams struggled on the oline.. many fans fail to acknowledge this..

so even ranking the saints line, top 5 or top 10.. doesn't exactly mean they have a great line.. it can speak to where the rest of the league is. there were really some atrocious o-lines this past season.. far worse than the Saints.
