How about having a project defense and getting an A+ out of it instead of the C- that I am seeing on the field.

Not really. The Saints run defense is ranked 12th this season. Better than the Texans, Vikings, Rams, Bengals & Chiefs. If you were to ask the average fan who had better run defenses than the Saints, 10 times out of 10 the fan would say those run defenses were better.

The problems have been in the secondary where injuries have eaten the team alive this season. It's forced lesser talented & inexperienced players to have to step up into starting roles. The team has a mass unit at CB & it has effected the overall defensive performance on the field. Just look at Delvin Breaux. He started 3 games this year with 2 of them where the rust of being out for an extended period showed up big time. Just look at all CBs the Saints have on IR. I don't care who the team is, they aren't going to survive with that many injuries to one unit.

Delvin Breaux
That doesn't even include Ken Crawley & his knee cap injury from this week.

At one point last year, Payton defended his poor play by stating that they drafted him not expecting him to be an immediate starter. Poor excuse for a player drafted1-13.
