At a certain point, I think we have to realize it might be us and not them.

No , It's him. When you are faced with managing a Popeys' or improve your play; guess what happens?

LOL at him doing close to that here

95% of this board wanted him gone IIRC

-Neither guy performed exceptionally well while here.

-P-Rob was however pretty damn good as the slot nickel back, he really only got burned when he was on the outside on an island...Sure he could have done better at that, but it's not his fault that he was not used more often where he proved he could excel at (though some times it was due to injury that he was used outside)

-Hicks is 340lbs, a 340lb man should never be used as a 4-3 outside rushing DE.....He should be used as a 3-4 DE, or a 4-3 3Tech....he still may never live up to his preseason hype, but I bet he would do much better at either of those natural positions for him vs what we tried to make him here

Prob was really starting to come around in his last season with us.

I expected him to become a solid corner after he left nola.

Boom goes the dynamite. This is the main issue that has plagued this team. How can we spend multiple high-round draft choices and spend so much money in FA on defensive talent and have so few of them pan out? Is the scouting department that bad? Probably not. You need to know how to develop the players and put them in a position to succeed. I feel that defensively, this team is just awful at doing this. Look at PRob, Hicks, Jenkins, Ninkovich, etc. I find it hard to believe that these players all of a sudden just got better by themselves after they left. It's more likely that other teams helped develop their skills and put them in a better position to succeed. People come to these boards all the time saying "We shouldn't have let [insert defensive player here] go, he's a beast!", but those players wouldn't have shined had they stayed here. If CSP stays, I hope he overhauls the defensive coaching staff from top to bottom. This is a great time to bring some quality coaches in, to groom all the young talent we have on defense.

PRob had all the athletic tools, he just did't have great ball skills IMO. They were getting better and last year he was a really good nickel back. If he has a decent pass rush and scheme then I expected him to be a decent CB with his skills. Unfortunately, we had neither of those things.

I wonder how he compares to DB over the first 2-4 games.
Probably pretty similar...
