No room for error?

This isn't college football, dude.
What the hell did you expect?

You didn't hear about the part of the bounty suspensions where the Saints had to go 16-0 or they wouldn't be allowed to play in the playoffs?

our line was worse

which line? the offensive line, considering they are only replacing one starter from last year, was terrible.... they looked completely lost out there at times....

the defensive line, while they still cannot get a consistent pass rush going, was decent.... not great, not terrible, but good enough to get off the field more often then not.... but going forward, we have to figure out a combination of players that can get pressure on the QB, without having to bring extra rushers, so we can play more containment on the edges and drop in to coverage, which will result in more turnovers, if we can convince the DB's to stop looking for the "ooohhh" hits and start looking for the ball....

Am I the only Saints fan that has looked at our schedule?

We were never going 13-3 again this year with no head coach, this defense, and not reproducing a record setting offense.

Wow, things must be bad around here if you're the positive one.

i'm not being "positive", as much i'm being realistic..... just as i always have....

this team is exactly what i thought they'd be: very talented, with some flaws at critical positions, and lacking discipline due to a suspension at the key coaching position....

i'm not going to sit here and pump sunshine and tell everyone it's going to be OK, but i'm also not going to sit here and tell everyone to give up and jump off a cliff..... we played a very shitty game, didn't get any help from the referees and we still played our way into a chance of getting a shot to win..... if we do better, we can win some games.... but we have a ways to go, as of right now, the way i see it....

Yeah the no room for error is silly. The giants were fricking 9-7 last season.

So long as the O-line shows up, we are instantly 10X better. We left a ton of points on the field due to the killing drives, and constantly giving the ball back to the Redskins offense.

Just returning Greer and Patrick from injury will help the defense immensely as well.

not really.... you could have the Steel Curtain out there, but they still have to execute..... and that was our problem today, on both sides.... we didn't execute, thus we got beat....

It's rough when you take the black and gold glasses off and realize the Saints today were bad against a very average team

while they might have an "average" offense (that college crap will only work for so long), their defense is very VERY good.

For further reference, please refer to the defensive statistics since Haslett took over.

Still feel this team can go 11-5 or 10-6.

For some reason Washington has given us problems in the past so its not that big of a suprise that it would be the same today. The only difference is RG3 was more effective than we figured on.

Having Greer and Patrick hurt but the front line has to do better than today. Despite all the screw ups on offense and defense we still had several shots at tieing the game.

This team is capable of better. Hopefully they can get their act together quickly.

I thought before the season that we could win 10-12 games. Now, I have no clue. Just looking through the schedule I think we could easily miss the playoffs. Heck, we could easily finish below .500. I think the team will turn it around and look much better next week. But, we have a tough schedule and picked the wrong game to not show up.

Washington LOSS
@ Carolina
Kansas City
@ Green Bay
San Diego
@ Tampa Bay
@ Denver
Philadelphia
Atlanta
@ Oakland
San Francisco
@ Atlanta
@ New York Giants
Tampa Bay
@ Dallas
Carolina

There's not many guaranteed wins there, and a lot of games that look like they'll be impossible to win (@ Green Bay, Denver, and New York). If we don't turn it around very, very quickly, we could be in trouble.

10-6. Is my vote

I am unwavering. I am still sticking with my original 12-4 prediction. Spags D settles in with time....The offense gets clicking again next week. We win at LEAST 10 though. This team is not having less than double digits in wins.

and won it all.....so were the packers the year before If i recall. Yes we all want the #1 seed with homefield advantage through the playoffs or at least the #2 seed so we get a bye however that is not easy to do and we just may have to work our way through the wildcard round again and be forced to win on the road. we'll see.

Bunch of emotional people posting since last game.

It's only one game and it's not the end of the world yet. This isn't college where you have to win out to get a shot at the championship.

I'm going with 11-5.

9 or 10 win season. It could be rough in these first 6 games but the Saints should get better as the season progresses and the new coaches get settled in.
