No.

What we "have" is a rookie who isn't ready and will need 1-2 more years before he should see the field.

It isn't just about compiling stats. When you're out of the playoffs at this stage, you are often playing for people's jobs. No way Brees is gonna let the team go out there and get dumped on- trust me, if we send out a raw Grayson, they will- and potentially have players (and coaches) that could have put up good film lose their livelihoods. Not gonna happen.

Not against the Falcons. The chance to close out the season with a clean sweep over that team is too much to pass up.

2-3 years before he can see the field? That is absurd. Also, how is he supposed to progress without seeing the speed of the NFL game.

I would counter with idea that those players have multiple games of film to build their resume. If a roster spot is determined on a last week meaningless game, then the front office is worse than I anticipated.

Rodgers didn't start till his 3rd year
Doesn't seem like that hurt him....

Edit: actually it was his 4th year

That's what preseason and OTAs is for

If Brees is healthy and cleared medically, I want to see him play. Hopefully we have a few more years

Rodgers didn't play because of Brett Favre's ego, not because of Rodgers' ability or readiness

Kaepernick didn't till halfway through his 2nd year

Garrapolo will be on the bench for at least another year in NE

Not for the falcons.
Perhaps playing someone else but not them. And not with the chance to kill their playoff hopes.
Nope. Not going to happen.

It's a tool used to progress players. He's a project pick and this is his redshirt year

And yea, it does mirror game prep and live action

You're comparing apples to oranges, nobody would be suggesting to play Grayson over Brees if the playoffs were on the line.....Yesterdays game (even though Brees looked great) is still meaningless

-49ers had Smith starting and doing fairly well, thus no need for Kaepernick

-Patriots are still playing meaningful games that they need to win

-Green Bay I don't recall of hand, but if memory serves me correctly they were pretty much in the playoff each of Rodgers first few years while Favre was there

Why? NFL fans are the worst. If a guy doesn't come out as an all pro as a rookie he is a bust. Most NFL players take a few years to develop.

And a lot of starting QBs didn't start right away. Tom Brady, Ben Rothlesburger, Philip Rivers, Tony Romo, Carson Palmer, and Drew Brees. Eli Manning is a two time Super Bowl MVP and shared time with Kurt Warner his first year. And look at what Kurt Warner had to go through to get a job.

Give people time to develop. I'd rather us wait to see Grayson three or four years and get seven or eight good years out of him than throw him to the wolves and screw that up because "the season is over".

Nobody is saying to throw anyone to wolves.

Saying to work him in the see speed of game.

This week is very little pressure.
