I loved the MJ pick. Perfect all around player for our needs. Thought Vaughn and Arnoux were going to be pretty good too. I was wrong.

Massive WTF????? at the time (love it now)

btw no offensive players drafted.

I remember everyone wanting Dorsey but being excited with Ellis.

Porter everyone was ok about but some wanted Desean Jackson who was still on the board.

People liked the Nicks pick.

Best- Malcolm Jenkins. The thought of him playing CB or S had me sold.

Worst- Robert Meachem

Going into that draft,2007, I wanted the Saints to pick Lamar Woodley. Right before the draft, Charles Grant got that huge deal. Had a feeling picking Woodley wasn't likely anyway, just liked him.

Best #1: 2008 1 1 7 7 Sedrick Ellis DT USC

Worst #1: 2006 1 1 2 2 Reggie Bush RB USC (based on Return on Investment) Still waiting for the potential to turn into production. I really thought he had turned the corner in the 2009 playoff games but since then he has run backwards, danced and lost yardage.

Other Rounds Best: 2010 3 3 31 95 Jimmy Graham TE Miami (FL)

2008 4 5 29 164 Carl Nicks T Nebraska

2006 8 7 44 252 Marques Colston WR Hofstra

Other Rounds Worst: 2007 4 4 8 107 Antonio Pittman RB Ohio State

2008 5 6 12 178 Taylor Mehlhaff K Wisconsin

BEST PICK:

Jahri Evans 2006 / Round 4 / Pick: 108
2× Pro Bowl selection (2009, 2010)
2× All-Pro selection (2009, 2010)
Has started every game since being drafted and has never missed a game due to injury.

Of our 8 pics in 2006, you could argue that without the first 2 and last 2 (so 4 out of 8), the Saints may not have won the SB. Looking at it, Reggie is the only one that did not pan out to what we expected (but our expectations were very high).

I hated the Bush Pick( wanted to trade back a few spots and take AJ Hawk) I thought he was really overrated coming out of USC

Meachem- I didn't hate or love this pick but I was really confused why we didn't go Defense here.

Ellis- I loved this pick it filled a huge need

Jenkins- I loved this one as well. We needed secondary help bad.

Patrick Robinson- I never heard of this kid when we took him and didn't know why we drafted at this position but it worked out this yr with all the injuries at CB

Everybody did.

In the begining, the draft Gods bestowed upon the Saints the likes of Onome Ojo. And Ojo begat Hass and Hass begat Terrance Copper. And Terrance Copper begat Adrian Arrington?

I won't lie. The Reggie Pick had me the most excited.

Didn't like the Meachem pick, wanted Olsen.

Always liked the Jenkins pick though, Saints needed a DB and they got the best one in the draft.

The other rounds, I always just hope for the best, and try not to get too excited about anyone.

At the time:
Best- Bush, of course. I had visions of a Dorsett/Sanders hybrid, shredding other teams effortlessly. Greatest player since Gale Sayers

Worst- trading picks away to get Morstead. A PUNTER???

I was excited about Meacham, I thought he was gonna be a 1000 yd bookend with Colston. Figured Devery was gonna fade away.

After the Morstead pick and how that worked, I no longer can hate on any picks, I just nod and say "yep, he must fit in the plans somewhere"

WR Hass could have been good, but he could not stay healthy.
