Some of y’all are going to have to get over the butt hurt eventually. The man gave 15 years to the Saints and by far the most success in franchise history. Does it suck that he left and the team is on a downward turn? But it’s only on a downward turn relative to the success he created. For most of the history of this franchise pre Payton, last season’s 7-10 record would have been a banner year.

How many consecutive 7-9 years did Payton have? Pretty sure he would have made 7-10 if given the opportunity of another game to lose

You are not incorrect.

Hakim drops the ball! Hakim drops the ball! Brian Milne might have fallen on it at the 10 yard line! It's the New Orleans Saints' football! Brian Milne, the most unlikely hero of them all, falls on the fumble, the muff by Hakim! There is a god after all!

That was our first playoff win.

Belly Check didn’t quit New England when Brady left.

I know you aren't going to use him as an example. Ask the Jets how loyal he is.

You kinda missed the point. Bill didn't quit "retire" one year after Brady left. He accepted the challenge of trying to win without Brady and he is what 12 years older than Payton?

Payton quit after 1 year without brees

The only thing that caught my attention was that Mickey Loomis was on the phone for days working out the compensation. What in the hell were they talking about? For what we got that could have been done in five minutes.

Ok. That doesn’t change anything about what Payton gave to this franchise. He wanted to coach somewhere else. Get over it.

The Broncos are about the complete opposite of us in terms of rival, division, conference etc etc. good for him and no hard feelings.

So fricking what? Just be appreciative for what he gave us.

And there is nothing bad in that link. Sounds like typical Sean

I disagree, he signed a contract and should have finished out the contract. Almost immediately after “retiring” (ok, within a few months) he was talking about coaching again. I think he at least owes us a dose of the truth as to why he up and quit. It wasn’t because he wanted to retire, that’s obvious. I’m sure it will all come out down the road, just seems like he took the easy way out. I wish him nothing more than 5-12 seasons.
