Per Jason Lolcanfora

quote:

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, he anticipates the Pats and New Orleans Saints to work out a deal for the two-time Super Bowl winning cornerback during the upcoming league meetings in Phoenix, Arizona next week. He reports that both New England and New Orleans are "motivated" to get a deal done and Malcolm Butler "badly" wants to move on and get paid.

It's starting to sound like this is a more a matter of "if" than when.

This is another guessing report like all the others.

Saints and Pats already have a deal in place. They are just waiting for Butler to agree to a contract with the Saints (for after he gets traded).

Otherwise the tender would be signed by now.

Think about it.

Pats sign a CB to a big contract.

Butler linked to Cooks trade.

Cooks trade couldn't wait for Butler and goes through before we are on the hook for more money.

Saints have Butler in and both sides "had a good time".

Butler leaves and STILL does not sign his tender, which means a trade cannot happen.

Where is the holdup? Butler/Saints contract negotiation.

That's good news. Because with all the silence it sounded more and more like the Saints were just going to have to sign Butler if they wanted him

Saints need more money so they free up money with Armstead, sure seems headed that way and I guess the deal is that we give the Pats that late first round pick back.

If Saints give up 11, I will be pissed.

The saints are not giving up the 11th pic for Malcolm Butler. shite in the NFL takes time man. The pats aren't in a hurry to give Butler what he wants that's why it's taken so long.
Now everything is falling in place contract is probably just about done and I bet by the end of the week he will be a saint
