A WR in TE’s clothing who can’t run block and had a large cap number is a luxury a 7-9 team with an aging HOF QB cannot afford, apparently. Looks like the overhaul is going to hit both sides of the ball.

Let’s look at the bright side: Brees is deadly accurate, and a more ball control run-friendly offense should suit him well moving forward.

Payton has had years of razzle-dazzle playcalling to show the entire football world how smart he is; I see this as a sign he’s focused on winning above all over the next two years (and I say “two years” because it’s far from a done deal that Brees reups at the end of this contract).

This move is to protect Drew Brees.

If anything, it is a further investment into Brees

He could get traded in a second.

Jacksonville would trade for him and then extend him.
Also, you don't understand the salary cap.

Drew was greedy. Sure he broke bank, but at what price to the team?

If he had an ounce of humility, he'd restructure his deal now and help his remaining teammates!

Pay attention; he tried, the team didn't want to do it.

The @Saints are opening up offers for Drew Brees. Third time is a charm @MiamiDolphins.

If Brees goes, I'm convinced Tom Benson is going "scorched earth" to piss off the family that wants all his stuff when he dies.

You have proof of that?

So the New Orleans Saints declined to pay Drew less money this year to free up salary cap space with needs now to include LBers, corner, TE, OT?

C'mon Man!

I'll find a new favorite team if Jameis somehow is the QB of this team.
