Drew gets injured by Vic Beasley this year.

I am 100% certain that Matt Ryan gets a penile implant this year. Drew Brees will always out perform him on and off the field.

Can't we just slap the franchise tag on him after 2016 if no deal has been done?

That would imply he's actually capable of getting to the QB

80-20 he won't be. Especially if he has a good to great year, statistically speaking.

He'll want top dollar and the Saints won't be willing to pay it, and they shouldn't.

Let that greedy, lying fricker walk!

That would cost over 40 million to do...so no.

If his health is good, then he will be. Drew will retire a Saint.

He will either be with the Saints, or he will not be with the Saints........ 50/50 odds (1 in 2) are exactly correct.

Precisely how statistics work (if it was a random variable).

Pretty high.

I don't understand the infatuation you guys have with trying to get rid of Brees. In any given year, there are only 4 or so QBs that can drag an average team to a SB. If he's not in that category, he's so damn close, and it's not like the Saints have a powerhouse of a defense or anything.

QBs like that do not grow on trees, and blowing it up doesn't mean you will get a QB like that.

Hell, even the "can't miss" Andrew Luck hasn't shown the ability to drag an average team to the SB.

It is a legitimate estimate of the odds. It's just a very simplistic approach.

The people (jazzyjeff) who critically and angrily want to get rid of Brees are trolling or morons. There is no other interpretation. Without Brees we are back to dreaming about a chance to compete. You don't replace qb's like that. There's a good chance that we never compete again for as long as the NFL is a thing after he leaves. We'll likely be waiting on the miracle of finding a competent, but still not as good as Brees qb for years if it ever even happens again.

This whole thing is built off of people claiming that Brees was greedy for negotiating the contract he had when in reality it shook out that it was no different than all other starting qb's in the league. It's the misguided thought that these players personally owe you the fan for their continued existence.
